We booked the Club Casa Dorado Los Cabos back in May for a vacation this Easter Week. Airline tickets have been purchased since last June. In checking RCI's website, I see that the resort is now Mandatory All Inclusive. It was optional when we booked. I called RCI and they said we must now take the All Inclusive. We enjoy trying various restaurants when we travel and would certainly not have chosen this resort had this been the policy. There appears to be no availabilty anywhere else for this time period. Shouldn't RCI protect us since we booked prior to this rule. Can a resort change a policy on previous reservations?

I have instituted a search for other resorts for our travel dates. I have written to RCI asking that if we find another resort they return the points and fees, since their VC recommended this resort. We shall see what happens. Wishing we were going back to Puerta Vallarta. :(

Linda,

I had the same problem last month at the Gran Costa Real (formerly Sierra) in Manzanillo. It was optional when I booked but later became mandatory. An RCI supervisor helped us out. We were able to do optional. I used to have her direct number but I think I threw it out. If she can't convince the resort to allow optional - she will try to find you another resort in the area. (We already had our air tickets - another city would have been out of the question). Good Luck.

Nancy

Linda74,

Most resorts will honor confirmations that were made prior to changes in all-inclusive policies. Please send an e-mail to feedback@rci.com and enter TUG in the subject line. The Communications Team can get the details and try to help.
