Since you can request and are told you have preferrence for internal exchanges into your resort, that would lead me to think they must hold back banked weeks in case internal ones are requested. If this is the case, are they held a certain amount of time? Or is my reasoning all wrong?

slabeaume,

Some resorts do hold their space for internal exchanges for a time (Embassy Resorts, Las Olas, etc.). However, this is not true of most resorts.

I will check to see how internal exchange priority is applied to ongoing searches and follow up with you.

Just wondering what you found out, Madge?

Along this same line, does an owner at a specific resort have priority to obtain a trade back into that resort if the week in available to all RCI members? If the week is Blue will it still have priority to that specific resort in red time, assuming the 1st statement above its true? Does the resort have to specify this priority for trading back into the resort?

slabeaume,

In the absence of any owner requests, deposits with sufficient Trading Power will match available units. However, when an owner request is entered into the mix, it takes priority over non-owner requests.

This is different from the practice by Embassy and a few others where the space is not available to other members at all until a certain date.

How is that certain date determined?

Slabeaume,

The resort determines its internal exchange provisions and RCI carries them out according to contract.

Thanks, Madge. I've often wondered about trying to do an internal exchange at Pahio (with my every other year ownership), but was afraid I wouldn't be able to match 2 weeks together.

Madge, another question on internal exchanges - we own at Westin Club Regina, and I just traded back into that resort in P.V. using another timeshare week (not Westin) for that exchange. What about the exchange fee - is it the North American one which is lower, or the International one for Mexico?

Were you able to use the other resort for an internal exchange with Westin?

Yes, I was, but RCI charged the higher, Intern. exchange rate, and I'm asking Madge if this was correct.

Elli,

Domestic/International pricing is based on your country of residence. This is where mailed materials will originate. If you live in the US, an exchange to Mexico would be considered international. However, when you are exchanging from your home resort to your home resort, the internal exchange fee applies, which is the same as the domestic fee.
