Just wondering if anyone knows if Orange Lake has a fee to do a transfer of ownership at their Resort? We are needing to transfer ownership from my brother to myself and are trying to figure out the best, easiest, and cheapest way to do so. Any advice will help.

HICV charges $100 to file a recorded deed change - the cost of recording the deed in the county of the resort is typically in the $30-$50 range, so something around $150 in fees per deed. Depending on resort, points, and status level of the existing account, benefits could be lost in a standard transfer, so you should talk to Deeding at HICV to see if transfer from your brother can be done as a family transfer without losing any benefits, but I'm not sure what HICV charges for this kind of transfer. If you did it through the standard process, it would require two quitclaim deeds (one to add you to each deed and a second to remove your brother from each deed), which would be 2x the cost. On the other hand, if the deed is at a resort that transfers as points and not weeks and the account has no status, paying extra to maintain benefits probably isn't worth it.

The fees listed don't include the costs of a transfer company drawing up deeds, which would typically add ~$200 per transfer - here's the cost summary per deed.

Standard Transfer Party A -> Party B: $150-$350
Double Quitclaim Transfer Party A -> Party A+B -> Party B: $300-$700
Orange Lake Assisted Transfer: $150-???
