i read an article saying that if you contact your home resort and say your going to create a website that looks like theirs but with negative results and feedback, they will buy back your resort because they don't want the publicity. Has anyone ever had success with this?

Seriously? Fraud and blackmail?

And unless you are a webpage designer, I don't think you can pull it off.

Also extortion.

Plus libel & slander.

Let's back up here a minute:

What LEGAL methods have you tried so far?

Who would you contact at said "Home Resort"? Most representatives are just clock watchers and will not care what you intend to do. I don't think this action would fulfill it's purpose.

A good way to get your site to look like this:

They may lie, but they usually do not threaten to ruin you personally and financially.

In Florida, such a threat would be construed as extortion and expose you to a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Not a good idea. -- Section 836.05, Florida Statutes.

Additionally, 17 states have criminal libel statutes. The States: Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin, along with Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Why do all that work when you can pay someone $1000 to liquidate your timeshare? There are some donation threads for service providers who will do this for about that rate. It will be much cheaper than building a website and risking a law suit.
