Well - I did it! I got 7 nights at Oahu. I thought I'd try to give back a little after all of your help.

For a tough pull (like July 3) 9 months out - you MUST be on at 12:00 1 second on the dot. We sat there with a clock on the internet (from google) and at the strike of 12 it came up. We got our 3 nights.

We found that extending the trip didn't work at that hour. We tried 1 am , 2am. We finally realized that 5 or 6 am is when they allow the extention of the next day.

Good luck all! We're going to Hawaii!!! :cheer:

We will continue to look and hope someone drops a reservation for a 2 bedroom - as we have only a one bedroom. But we're not on the side of the road!

Congrats, Ellen!

Your hard work paid off. I see a 2-bedroom in your future... :whoopie:

Just keep looking. A 2-BR may suddenly appear when you least expect it.
After our window opened, we spent 3-months looking for our desired unit.
Just when we were going to settle for our 2nd choice, Voila! We were in like Flint.

Interesting. I just IM'd with Hilton (on their website - live chat). they changed my reservation to a king bed - guaranteed ocean view. Part of me thinks - just keep the one bedroom. the kids will be fine in a one bedroom and I save the points - I have the bed and view I want - the kids aren't paying so let them sleep on the sofa (and I'll bring an air mattress).

but yeah, if a 2 OCEAN VIEW comes up, I'll do that for the kids. I was very impressed that the agent was able to make those changes for me. I saved the IM conversation on a word doc just in case.
