Hello,

I don't want to lose the opportunity to make a good summer reservation while waiting for transfer. I'm wondering how common it is to request the broker/seller to make a reservation for you while you are in the process of purchasing? A couple of sellers have flat out refused and I found that to be very odd. If they have to make the MF payment in advance, I agreed to pay the MF in escrow. With a points based systems, somethings there are reservation fees but I am willing to reimburse those as well.

Any experiences?

In the last four months we have purchased 2 different timeshares from 2 different buyers and both made the reservations on our behalf as part of the terms of the sale. Perhaps they were very motivated and didn't want to have us walk away. Hope it works out for you.

DVC won't complete an ownership transfer if the seller has future reservations booked. The reservation has to be cancelled, or else closing the sale has to wait until after the completion of the reservation. Could that or something similar be the issue with your current purchase?

The post card companies (most sellers on eBay) wont make a reservation in advance. They generally dont own the TS, often they have a power of attorney to sell it from the former owner. The former owner is usually someone who paid an exit company a fee to get rid of it. The seller may not even have the ability to get in contact with the former owner. This used to really annoy me, but now I just factor it into my offers/bids.

I understand now. One of the companies is not a broker and is probably a post card company.

The other is Redweek full service. They want funds in escrow before making the reservation. And I don't want to buy the week if I cannot get a good reservation for next year. So I will just pass on the Redweek full service.
