I booked a 3 day reservation awhile back, I only need two days. Now that it is in open season can I reduce that reservation to two days?
Thanks

Per the rules, you cannot convert club season to open season. There is a rule that you cannot cancel a club season and book the same open season.

There is a workaround - change the club booking to another resort or date later in the year that uses the same or more points. Book the open season before you make the change so you are sure to have what you need.

Also, points reservations are a minimum of three days.

The problem with this approach is when there is no other availability for the dates you actually want. So you risk losing it all once you shift your current reservation out to outside the 31-day window. When you go back to book your 2-night open season reservation those nights could have been taken by someone else. :wall:

A half-baked idea: If you can have two 'puters logged-in at the same time...
Before you do anything, make sure an OS booking is available. If it is, have a helper ready to pounce on it the moment you confirm the change in your point-booking. Cancel the point-booking later, or change it to something you actually want.

JSparling: My understanding was that, inside 30 days, you may be given a choice of points or cash, but the OS/club minimums still apply. Book less than 3 days, and it's cash only. If your experience is different, I'd like to hear about it.

And that is the issue with South Beach, no vacancy.

I agree. The owners manual states that open season is only rental, 2 days minimum. If you use points, it's always 3 days minimum.

I wasn't suggesting changing dates in order to catch the new opening, thats why I indicated booking open season before the change ( read my last sentence again ). This is not like the cancel/rebook trick that Wyndham owners use.

Interesting. I just tested it on Valdoro in Colorado. When you go into Revolution and find a 2-night stay in the Open Season it shows points/cash. For example, 1,700/$340. So based on seeing that before I wrote my last post. But I decided to go back in and test it further......so I clicked into it as if I'm going to book it and the only option it gave me was to pay cash. So you're all right! :bawl:

Stupid Revolution......why would it show points on the first screen when I'm not allowed to book with points?

A few years back you could use points for an Open Season (2-day) reservation. It might be a carry-over from that time. Given how slow they are to come out with updates and fixes for the HGVC web site, it wouldn't surprise me.

Speaking of the new site, they just posted a preview.

The points "donut" doesn't look as useful as the table.

That's the latest "in" design. I have seen the "donut" in several updated websites lately. Fidelity is one that comes quickly to mind.

A few years back...

Whenever I say, "a few years back..." about anything, somehow it turns out to be more like 15 or 20 years back.

But Revolution's issue is more likely just another example of how poorly HGVC's IT peep designed the system.

Well, I know it wasn't that long ago since I have only been an owner for 10 years and I distinctly remember having the option to use points or cash for OS 2-day reservations. But we can all agree on poorly designed their site is...

I would say 4 or 5 years ago we could use points for 2 night stays. Didnt hgvc change the rules so only cash for stays less then 3 nights about 4 or 5 years ago?

I've been a HGVC-owner since '07 and in that time, AFAIK, 3-N has been the min for points... although it's possible that I missed some experiment they did in the interim.

From what I understand from HGVC people the Revolution System was design by IBM no Hilton. It was too sophisticated for a reservation system with bells and whistles that are not needed in a reservation system.
