I am a Vistana Sheraton Flex owner. Please don't lecture. I know, now, it was not a smart decision, but the damage is already done. So, here's my question. I am looking to make a 10 day reservation at the 8 month window for December 11 - 21, 2021. I know I need to wait until at least April 11th but do I need to wait until April 21st before I can reserve all 10 days? I have tried repeatedly to get through to Vistana Customer Service but have had no luck. TIA, Joyce

Depends on the resort: for example, at the Hawaii resorts, you can't reserve Dec. 18-21 - it's Christmas week, and it was sold as an Event Week, so you must own that week to reserve it.

What happens when an owner of a fixed Christmas week does not reserve it. Or reserves, then cancels it. Does that week then become available for other owners to reserve? Or does the developer take it for themselves?

Or they use the StarOptions from it to go somewhere else...

Vistana puts the holiday week in their rental pool and the owner gets Staroptions or BonVoy points. It's actually in the fine print.

I can confirm this. During my initial 52-week purchase, the reservation week did not get transferred, instead I got 148,100 staroptions. I cannot see the inventory to book myself either. I had to ask vistana agent to rebook it (I think they had to do some magic in the backend)

By saying "Hawaii resorts" that must exclude Nanea as there is availability during that time period at Nanea (through Westin Flex) and I don't own an Event Week.

I think that’s correct. Nanea is 100% in Westin Flex, I think. Somebody will correct me if I’m wrong.

It's 100% flex(ible) but not 100% Flex ;) Some of the inventory was/is sold as Nanea Home Options, Westin Flex Home Options and Nanea Oceanfront Home Options.

I should have known that if I had thought about it since only Home Options (albeit three different ones) are sold for Nanea. Senior moment!!!

I wonder if it is a separate pool of HomeOptions, like how they sold oceanfront separately?

I'm not sure. We purchased pre-construction and nothing like that was offered to us.

As I mentioned above, we are part of the Sheraton Flex program and I booked a Nanea Ocean Front for 9 days last May. We had to cancel due to Covid-19. I don't know if things have changed, regarding who can and cannot make a reservation for Maui, but when I do a search on my dashboard all three Maui Westins have some availability. I can't make any reservations for two more weeks. I hope something is still available. I have close to 300,000 Star Options, so if I need to I'll convert my options to points and book a hotel.

You can also bank them through 2023. If you think you'll be able to travel, it's a better deal than converting.

I don’t think you can make a reservation for more than 14 consecutive days.

I don’t think you can make a reservation for more than 14 consecutive days.

During the Home Resort Reservation Period (12-8 months) weekly reservation property reservations can only be made for 7 (seven) consecutive days per reservation with arrival dates limited to Friday/Saturday/Sunday (dependent on resort).

During the Home Resort Reservation Period (12-8 months) Home Options reservations (Flex/Nanea) can be made for up to 14 (fourteen) consecutive days per reservation.

StarOptions reservations (8 months or less) may be made for up to 21 (twenty-one) consecutive days per reservation.

Great info. Does this work the same for WSJ Home Options and Aventuras?

I don't know. I own Nanea and Westin Flex but I'm not sure if there is consistency between those two programs and the flex programs of Aventuras and WSJ.

If you own a lock off and you want to use the two sides consecutively for 14 days total, you can reserve that during your Home Resort Reservation Period, but it will have to be two separate 7 day reservations.

if I do that, I always try to book the larger side for the first week. Often, but not always, they are able to keep you in that unit for the entire 14 days.

Daviator, how would on ebook the lockoff as you mentioned right at the 12 month mark? Meaning, if done right at the 12 month mark for the 1 bedroom, you would be at 12 months and 7 days for the second room which is outside the 12-month window. How could you secure both at the same time? Or can you only book a week for the 1 bedroom, and 7 days later, you book the following week in a studio (and hope its available 51 weeks out)?

HOw would that work if one wanted to use their 2 bedroom lockoff, two weeks in a row? ie. Just make 2 reservations? If done right at the 12 month mark, how could you secure both at the same time? Or can you only book a week for the 1 bedroom, and 7 days later, you book the following week in a studio?
I think you'd have to make two reservations a week apart, because that's literally what you are doing, making two separate reservations. And the 12-month mark is based on the check-in date.
