I just recently move out of the Chicago area, but still have a lot of family there. I wanted to get advice as to which (if any) time share company has locations in/around the downtown Chicago area. I am looking at buying resale to save money. I am hoping someone can suggest something. I also may use the same company to go to WDW and DL(CA).

Looking at the Tug reviews, there are only 2 there; HGVC and Bluegreen. I have stayed at the HGVC property (it’s my review from this summer) and we really liked it. Since you are going to see family, the location may not be all that great for you (Streeterville area). With HGVC, you can stay in Orlando or try and book the Carlsbad resorts (not sure what is DL). The biggest issue with this resort might be the lack of resales as it’s pretty new. The HGVC system gives owners the ability to book their home week at 13 months or at 9 months for a club reservation. If I remember correctly, it’s pretty hard to book that resort on a club reservation. We were able to book at 8 months because of the pandemic.

The Bluegreen at the Drake is the other on Tug and I know very little of this resort or Bluegreen in general.

It looks like Wyndham has one as well and you could buy points into the system to stay there as well.

I'm certainly no expert, but timeshares, by their nature are set up in resort areas. We've come across this frequently with European timeshares. Americans want to visit European cities. Europeans LIVE in the cities and want to vacation (Holiday) in the countryside, at the beach, in the mountains. What you're seeing is the American version. It is expensive to build/develop apartment type lodging in urban areas. That's what it is. As seen above, there are some urban properties, but they are generally built by hotel branded TS outfits and tend to be competitive to get into. e.g. hard to find on resale market and usually booked by owners rather than exchanged.

Wyndham had one, but the agreement lapsed when the property was sold; that left only Blugreen. Wyndham has been concentrating on urban locations recently, so I would expect they will look to get back in to Chicago.
