I rescinded before my 5 day grace period with Holiday Inn Vacation Club after I had a panic attack in my room after the presentation. It all sounded so good, somewhere I can take my family on vacation every year, something we can call our own, something I could hand down to my children, ect,ect...
I would still like to buy somewhere nice, for not so much money, but with elite status, just like the postcard. Is that possible?? Where do I start? Can anybody chime in??

Congrats. How much did you save with rescission? I don’t know how HIVC works, so I will let other respond.

I like Wyndham, though you can’t get VIP status without buying retail.

TUG has a Marketplace section where Timeshares are placed "For Rent". Check it out.

My advice to you would be to try renting in a few different locations/resorts to see how you actually like the ones you pick. The advantage of doing things this way is that you will see what you like, but more importantly what you don't like (and you won't have a lifetime commitment).

If there is something you feel you really enjoy and wish to own at then that is the time to make a decision to make a purchase.

Now if you buy from a Developer (which you did with Holiday Inn Vacation Club) then you have the right of rescission within so many days; however when you buy resale you don't have such a right (but you will save TONS of money).

Please consider becoming a TUG member as it may be the best $15 you ever spend. Welcome to TUG.

Here's a link to a questionnaire that you can fill out that might give you (and us) an idea of what might work well for you. https://tugbbs.com/forums/index.php?threads/what-to-buy-questions-for-new-timeshare-owners.208742/ Copy and paste it to a reply and answer the questions. I also suggest renting a few times in various systems- they all have their differences and aim at different demographics. Being in the right system makes writing those MF checks easier. I also like having a 'Home' resort I can drive to. It sure is cheaper to hop in the car than to arrange air travel every year to use what you own, and it assures you can still get away even if you should suffer a reversal of fortune.

Welcome to TUG!
