Hi All,
Let me get this straight. I have a 2bdr week 22 at Cliffs of Peace canyon since 2001. If I buy a resort with RCI points I can convert my Cliffs to 61500 RCI Points for 26 bucks.

Wow, we attended a GrandView, another Vacation Village resort for a TS meeting this week, we had a 3 night stay as VIP. (Another word for suckers) The deal was we buy a 1 bdrm biannual for 9500 and they convert out Cliffs to points for FREE. This way we get 61500/yr and 4900/bi year for MF of about $840. Sounded good at the time. So we closed and the deal was same as you described above no conversion just a points account that we can use. When I sell the cliffs it is still a week's resort. They lied to us, I was counting on a full conversion.

That was Tuesday on Wednesday afternoon we started to get cold feet something did not feel right. We decided to rescind I had asked during the presentation what the rescission period was 5 days in Nevada. It caught them off guard since they never mention rescission during a presentation. So we drove back to South Point Casino and wrote the letter on the computer. Then we walked across the street to GrandView computer room and printed 3 copies of it. Then off to the bank to sign letters in front of a notary, just in case Vacation Village wanted to contest the rescission, we could stop payment on our credit card. Then we were off to The post office to mail via certified mail. We were now done, total cost $6.75 for mail.

I must admit I felt bad at first but shrugged it off as just a business deal. Then I find out that they tricked us and lied. I think they may call us next week and I will tell them they lied and I will buy for TS with points for a dollar.

I am just glad i rescinded before we left Vegas as it would be too late now to do it. When in doubt always rescind. You can always go back to buy.

Thanks,
JoeG

The cliffs at Peace Canyon is an RCI points resort. You can't do PFD (points for deposit). It is either in points or not in points. Both Grandview and the Cliffs at Peace Canon are managed by Daily Resorts and are Vacation Village Affiliates. Your best bet would be to try to give away your Peace Canyon and then buy an already converted grandview. You can buy a 98,000 rci points unit with a mf of just under $800 for less than $2000 all in. There are 122,000 point weeks for the same $800 MF but these days they sell for for around $3500-$4500. Still much less and a better deal than the one you were offered.

Good job!

Grandview is a nice place but if you can get it on eBay for a buck then only pay a buck.

I just did the same thing. Last week we purchased a nearly identical package ($9500 for 49,000 points eoy - included an annual extra getaway week plus one year RCI Platinum). We have owned 25,000 RCI points for several years. They don't get us much but they're long since paid for and the MF are cheap. This seemed like an incredible deal, especially after we had been basically ripped off at a recent Diamond resorts update, and we were thinking of adding to our little pile of points anyway.

I'm new to TUG but have been reading ALOT lately. I knew that timeshares were out on the resale market but it didn't really sink in that I could buy these AND use them without all of the limitations that the timeshare reps warn you that you'd miss.

So far we have mailed back the proper paperwork within the five day time frame. I expect to hear from the sales rep any day wanting to know why. We'll see what happens after that. As you said, I do feel sorta bad - but it's just business.
