I'd like to call this a hypothetical situation, but.....

Say someone sat through an owner update about 2 weeks ago in Cocoa Beach. After too many hours of rangling, they got what they thought was an acceptable deal to convert some 2nd hand market points to gain status and the platinum benefits with a 50k point UDI purchase. Following the purchase, the coronavirus situation worsened, and time made the individuals realize that they should just rescind and be happy with the timeshare ownership benefits they already have. They write the letter, send it certified with return receipt on day 6, then go about their lives. At day 12 the person is a little surprised to not have received the return receipt, goes to USPS website to check the certified letter delivery status, and finds that it hasn't been delivered at all.

So I wonder, has the Orange Lake office closed due to the shelter in place policy? Can the letter not be delivered certified because there is no one there to receive it? What happens?

The issue is when the rescission letter was mailed. If it was mailed on Day 6, all is well (assuming a 7+ day rescission period).

Because this totally hypothetical person was wise and used certified mail, s/he will be able to prove it, too.

It may take longer than usual for all of this to unwind, but this is an excellent object lesson as to why the use of certified mail is best practice.

Retain your Certified Mail Postal Receipt. This proves that you mailed your rescission paperwork in a timely manner and that's all that matters in terms of State law.

They may not pick up the letter for a few weeks but no matter. The rescission law just requires you to mail it within "X" amount of days.

Once they do accept (or pick up) your letter then expect your rescission to be processed and completed within 45 days.

Hang in there, and good move to rescind in your "hypothetical' situation. ;)

What was the deal you go to convert?
