Just sat through an HGVC presentation and made a purchase for $18,990 for 4200 points at an affiliated resort.
The next day I did my research and ran into this website. Needless to say I submitted my cancellation today. I have not heard back from them yet.
I want to thank TUG BBS and all of your wonderful posts for saving me from a huge mistake. My wife and I are very interested in the HGVC cause of its flexibility with the point system, RCI, and last minute deals but want the best deal possible for the timeshare. I have some questions.
How important is a home location? Does it matter if we purchase a timeshare at a location we are probably never going to vacation at if we plan on using points to exchange to other destinations?
HGVC Flamingo seems to be very popular for resales. Looks like you can get points for about $1/ point, Compared to like HHV for about $2/ point. If points are what matters then would I not want to maximize the point for the money or am I missing something?
A little confused please help.
Thanks!
