I recently made an exchange with II and I am realizing that I chose some bad dates for the vacation. I have tried to search Interval's website and I am not able to find if I can reschedule the dates for my exchange.

Can someone tell me
1) Is it possible to reschedule. If yes what is the charge?
2) Can I cancel and reserve again? When I cancel do I get back the points that I used for the exchange? (I exchanged using Hyatt points)
3) Is it ok to rent this exchange out to somebody if any of the above cannot be done?

Thanks.

1: Yes, if the week you want is availalbe for exchange. It costs a new exchange fee.

2: Yes. You do not get back points. You get back a replacement week, good for one year from the date you cancel. The week's trade power may be reduced the closer you get to use date to cancel. Using it costs a new exchange fee.

3: No. You may not accept any compensation for the week, but you can give it away to friends/family.

Note that if it is less than 24 hours since you confirmed the exchange, you can cancel it and get your original weeks/points back if you are an individual member. Some club memberships (DVC?) may not have this option, I don't know.

Just so you know, II actively looks for people who try to rent their exchanges and penalties can include losing your membership, deposit, and exchange.

Thanks for all your replies. I finally called Hyatt II help desk, cancelled and rebooked my reservation. As bnoble mentioned before I could have cancelled in the first 24hrs and got an exchange week (can't get my points back I was told). What sucks is that I would not have incurred another exchange fee. I guess I am learning.
