I had a trip to Ko Olina (via II) scheduled for 5/30 that I just canceled and rebooked to Grande Vista Orlando in October. Why am I happy? Because as of right now, we still were able to book a vacation.

I recognize that yes, I'm giving up Hawaii in June for Orlando in October and normally this would be a foolish trade (Maint fees - $2300 vs. $1500, Points - 4,925 vs. 2,225). At this point, I consider myself lucky that:
  1. We can go on a vacation in 2020 (hopefully)
  2. I'm not losing my week
  3. Hopefully we won't get sick and will be able to travel and I will still have my job
We had to make a choice about whether to complain about what we are NOT able to do versus finding something that we ARE ABLE to do. While I now have to pull my kid out of school for a week, we scheduled it around her 7th birthday, so hopefully celebrating in Disney World will be something very special to her.

So yes, this situation sucks. We have an unprecedented situation but complaining about our timeshares and how bad MVC is, really seems petty when people are getting sick and dying. Make the most of what you have and be thankful that you're healthy enough to complain about your timeshare.

Also - I'd like to say what most people know - how TUG is such a valuable resource. I wouldn't have known what to do without the help of Steve Fatula and Frank808!

Stay safe everyone.

Thanks for the kind words. There are many good resources on TUG. She at least may think it's better than Hawaii, lol.

Really great attitude. And assuming all works out this year I think you'll enjoy Disney during October. Yes, probably some rainy days but if you "poncho up" even those are fun.

We always took our daughter out of school, just make sure you let the teachers know well in advance and make it easy on them to get your child caught up...maybe schedule an hour or so of learning time each day. Grande Vista is a blast - enjoy!

Good idea. With all this working and teaching from home, it will probably be easier than normal.

Fall is a great time to visit Florida...you can expect Temps in the mid the mid 80’s with lows in the upper 60’s.....with decent humidity levels...enjoy

I agree. I read the OP and just thought - Here is someone who gets it. It's not ideal, but make the best of it and be grateful.
