So, just got done with a fabulous 3 day weekend at the Midtown 45 and did the owners update, the sales rep informed that my resale points could not be transfered to my kids when I passed away, or got to old to use them. I pretty much told her she was full of s**t. I told her they are deeded properties and I could do what I want with them. She argued me up and down, even got her "manager" to agree to the lie. Kinda blew me away. I am not missing anything, correct? I should be able to transfer these to whomever I want.

they were transferred to you when you bought them, and now you can transfer to whomever you wish, whether you are dead or alive

Since they wanted to lie to you and argue with you, you should post their names so they can get full credit for their BS.

Just a little add on to the above.

You can will the timeshare to your kids, but make sure you advise them about it, as if they do not want the timeshare, they can refuse the inheritance. If they are well informed in advance, then they can make the best decision for them at that time. Hopefully a very long time from now.

I have a hard time understanding how the sales folk can be THAT bad. The manager must know that you can - but as the saying goes, their lips were moving.......

Got to laugh ... been at Midtown 45 in May and told them, I paid more points to stay 3 nights there than a week in South Florida in February ... NO WAY was I going to a "sales presentation" - total waste of MY time.

Why did you do a sales presentation?

Hey all, thanks, that is what I figured, I don't know why I even second guess myself, thanks to this forum I am usually more educated than the people I deal with at these things, and generally the only reason I go is to get the $100 bucks, or $50 and breakfast in this case. 9 times out of 10 they get my paperwork and see that I bought resale, and then just leave me alone. Much to my wife's chagrin, I actually have fun messing with the sales folks. This one however was extremely obnoxious from the get go. First they sat us outside while they had there morning pump up meeting, that is something to hear!! haha! and then they had Music cranking while we at our very mediocre breakfast. They presented literally screamed in a really small area, talked down to people, and was just generally obnoxious. They make the sales reps give you a tour, we were staying in a 2 bedroom pres, and she was all excited about showing us one of the 2 bedroom pres models, I literally told her you are just wasting your time, we are staying in one and love, but she insisted, she also wanted to show off the 33rd floor owners lounge, which we had already spent hours on! so we obliged, walked off the breakfast anyway. Starting to think they are not worth the $100 bucks, or whatever, any more. Might have to set a limit going forward.

We have decided we are no longer going to go to updates. I am tired of the lies and attempted manipulations. I had heard the sales weasels in NYC were really confrontational. We are going there to Midtown in early fall but we won't be seeing any sales weasels.

Yeah, they were at a different level, just did one in AC about a month ago, real low key and it actually had some useful info, and they stuck to there promised hour, got $100 amex, paid for lunch for the family. After that I was like, hey, $100 for an hour of our time, with danish and coffee, count me in!!! But after this NY one may have to rethink. I knew what I was doing, but I heard them lay out lies for some others at adjacent tables and I was really getting pissed. Just total BS.

After that New York flood a while back, all the rats went upstairs. I think you found where they eventually settled.

Since their lips were moving, that's probably a good indication they were lying.

How is the construction coming. Last time I was there the lobby was a big mess.

It appeared that 1/2 the lobby was new, small and tight but new, there was the other half that they said was an old restaraunt that was still not done, they were using that for the presentations and sales meetings. Every thing else I encountered was pretty new and shiny. Really nice place. I did hear from other guests that there are sill a lot of old school hotel rooms still on the lower floors, renting out as studios, although they do specify that when you reserve a room. One couple we spoke with was staying in one, said it was nice and all, but it didn't even have a fridge, and no ice machines available, you had to call the front desk to bring ice up. You would think a small fridge would be a minimal investment.
