Resale deed recently added to retail HGV Max Trust (Hawaii collection)

Hi everyone,

We recently added a EOY resale deed. Currently have Hawaii collection trust EOY opposite year. Would I still have to pay the reservation fee when booking with points for my resale deed since it’s not Max or is there a way for HGVC to note that I already have HGV Max (with the Trust). Does that make sense? Sorry if this is confusing. Thanks for your help!

@HuskerATL, do you know the answer (because I know that you follow the FB groups)?

I think that @mi1any will have a separate account for HGVC with a different member number and additional club dues that we pay ($219 in 2025). This would also mean that their account would work just like normal Legacy HGVC and they would have a $69 online club reservation fee.

More than likely, yes. The Trust side is in Max and in an account of it's own. The resale HGVC deed would have it's own account. I suspect that you will be Legacy on the HGVC side and pay booking fees. Now, if you book within the 6 months and combine with the trust points, which would have to be done through CS, then it may not since the points would be combined with your Trust points and those are Max. I am not 100% sure though so please report back on what actually happens. You will have one login but two different accounts. You will choose which account to go into after login.

@mi1any, please do report back. Once you have both accounts, I would like you to do some testing to see if this is an exchange program as my understanding between HVC and HGVC sides.

Going the other way, having Max on the HGVC side and adding HVC/Diamond resale contracts leaves those resale contracts out of The Club. The Club and HGVC are really still managed as separate ownership systems with just an exchange program linking them - what you do or own on one side doesn't effect the ownership type you have on the other. The only possible exception would be that the system shows my Max level on The Club side of things, though I don't really believe it will get me anything there - the OS credit, for example, doesn't show up, though the Resort credit does. Reservations I make on the HVC side don't show up as associated with Max in any way.

I'm not complaining, of course. I only picked those resales up for the ability to book Cabo Azul whenever I want and I don't have an overwhelming desire to pay The Club dues on top of the maintenance fees there. If anyone is interested, it's $0.1542 per point for Cabo Azul and $0.1960 for Monarch Grand - there have never been discounts available for the use with the Cabo Azul points but the discounts that show up for The Club seem to work with my Monarch Grand points. No reservation fees and access to DeX, though I haven't used it yet.

Off to Cabo Azul in 8 days not that I'm counting! :)

I think my resistance to buying is having to learn another system. HGVC seems good enough to me and with RCI its something like an 80-90% fit.

I know many of you are retired and maybe then I'll have more time and feel differently, right now its work like crazy and then take vacations! :)

I know that I have beat this drum, but before buying in The Club, HGVC folks should look at Craig Lodges and joining DEX EU. You can book DRI/HVC properties up to 2 years out and Embarc up to a year out and if you don't want to use that system that year, then just use the points in HGVC as normal.

I feel the same way (but I have never used RCI). I only added Fiesta Americana because we enjoy the FA-Cabo resort but didn't want the AI requirement that HGVC bookings now require. FAVC was very easy to use and learn but does have fairly high MFs (IMO). I am also in DEX via Craig and I have several upcoming reservations there. So, that is 3 different systems and I don't feel that I want to handle any more. My next problem is that I have so many reservations in 2025 that we can not possibly fit anything else into the schedule. Life certainly is tough. :bawl:

Kings Land 16800 pts odd year
16800 pts is a good number of points to have EOY. The only issues with EOY deeds is you will need to pay club dues every year and there will be a fee to save points. There isn't a fee to borrow points but you will only be able to borrow from the following year's points (not from two years). Other than that, several on TUG have made EOY deeds work and HGVC is a great system (to resale owners too).

Welcome to TUG.

If it matters at all, you have been quite persuasive. Craig Lodges really is a great option for those looking to expand their HGVC ownership. I've looked very seriously and am just not quite there...yet.

A few have taken that guidance and I hope it works out for them. Just because it works for me, doesn't mean everyone will like them as much.

If I did go this route, are you able to use all of your HGV points in DEX EU or just the ones associated with Craig lodges?

DEX EU is a weekly exchange. You deposit your week and then you get a week. The points don't go there. They do have specials where you get a bonus week with each deposit but that isn't all the time. They do have Xtras which is cash, like RCI last minute deals. If you don't want to deposit your Craig week, then you can either use the week at Craig or the points in HGVC so if gives you another option but only Craig weeks go there.

I think I recall that you have the option of depositing it in II as well?
