Request First

Hi Everyone. Just wanted to check-in with the Marriott exchange experts to make sure I understand request first exchanges.

If I get a match on a request first exchange, do I still have 24 hours to reject the trade? I hope so and assume I do, but I wanted to ask all of you, first.

I have a very high demand week registered with II that I have a request first attached to. Likely, I won't use this week to trade. I may but I am leaning toward a retrade with a couple marriott exchanges I have already made, should a match happen. Thanks.

The answer is yes. Early in the year, I made a request first and when I received the exchange. I was not too happy with it (not my first choice...), so I rejected it by calling them.

You have up to 24 hours, unless things have changed in the meantime. Stay close to your email, that is the key.

THanks. I check II every day, so no problem there.

Check your account history in II, not only your e-mail. Sometimes there are delays in the II e-mail notifications.

We just completed a "request first" exchange and are very pleased. However, we never received any type of e-mail notification. I just happened to call and to II if there were any new developments. (we made the request several months ago). The rep said that we had the requested exchange and that we were supposedly notified 3 days earlier.
I checked all new and old mail as well as spam and "it wasn't there".
If I were you I would check e-mail and also call from time to time.

I do not trust II one bit to email me. Sometimes, I get a postcard from them that my search request is still ongoing, but I never get an email unless I find a week on-line myself and book it. Then, I get an email confirmation right away. Several times I have caleld II to find there was a "soft hold" on an exchange for me that has always been way off from what I requested.

I'm leaning toward keeping the week I am using as a request first search, but I would like to keep the search going for at least two more months, just incase I change my mind. And, if a match does occure, I would like to use one of my other confirmed marriott trades to do a retrade.

Sometimes, I think my II account is not working right, though. I am using about the most powerful week I can think of for my trade request (week 26 at OceanWatch) and it has been a little over a month and no match on my exchange request -- which is only for Easter week at SurfWatch or 4th of July week at OceanPoint. I got both of these exchanges already using my WillowRidge week, but I am looking for another unit or for a bigger unit, and then I would do a retrade.

Thanks everyone.

You should be able to easily get those trades using your OW. I have gotten Easter week in Aruba, Christmas week at Ocean Point and July in Newport Coast. It is a very strong trader. Good luck.:)

Thanks, John. I'm thinking I have missed all the owner deposits but I am still hopefull Marriott will release the weeks they are holding sometime soon. Just hasn't happened, yet. I'm very happy with what I already have, just looking for a 3 bedroom at SurfWatch or another unit. No big deal if it doesn't happen but I'm very anxious to actually see first hand what my OW week can pull.
