I have reservations for a [in December] and I am not sure that we are actually going to be able to go. I am trying to decide if I want to post it to rent or cancel and put the points back into RCI. What could I expect to get as a rental amont on this?

For Comps look at the TUG Market Place, redweek.com, and craigslist.org, to see what other owners are asking.

At this late date, you will have to price it lower than everyone else, if you hope to have a chance of renting it.

Make sure you know what the last date to cancel and get your points back is.

You can ONLY place points into the CREDIT POOL before the USE YEAR starts. It is too late for the 2011 Use Year points.

RCI is it. Just remember, a minimum number of points to be deposited is 27,000. :D

The other thing to remember is that canceled points can't be pooled. So no matter if the reservation was in a future contract year or not they wouldn't be able to be pooled.

Back to the opsquestion...can I rent it?

If its an in demand time at an in demand place, perhaps...Is the resort completely booked? if not I wouldnt count on renting it...

..Ive rented stuff right up to the check in day...Ive also deposited to RCI at the last minute to save something for myself....just remember your point of no return is 15 days ahead of check in....So start advertising now, but be prepared to cancel before that 15 day mark

@Ron- it is a Christmas week in the mountains (hope I am not advertising too much again. Not sure of the complete rules) - Guess that is my question ...would that be of high enough demand to get a decent price to make it worthwhile- It is completely booked on the wyndham site. Think I will send you a PM RON with compete details. Maybe you could advise me more.

It's really late to start advertising a rental for 4-5 weeks away, look at the Comps and price yours lower if you want to rent it.

I would disagree. Lots of people are still looking.

Are you sure about that? I almost went through with depositing 38,000 cancel points - it went all the way to the point of wanting to charge me for housekeeping, so I cancelled the transaction at that point, but the website sure seemed like it would have gone through with no problem.

The computer may or may not accept them, it is worth a try. However, it is my understanding that if the person calls Wyndham Reservations and has a humanitarin reason for not being able to make the trip as scheduled, the supervisor can make some accommodations in this regard.

I answered your pm

As I said there, You have to decide whats most important to you....getting some money back (ie some rent to cover your mf) or preserve a vacation for you and your family.....

If its the money, give renting a try. You have up to 15 days before the check in date to get it done....If you dont you can always cancel and deposit.....If its the vacation thats important..cancel and deposit now
