Renting points--procedure

I will try to rent DC points in a few weeks. I have no fear that someone is
going to try to rent points that they do not have available. My concern is
that the system is so new and so complicated that someone is not aware
that you cannot rent points that have been borrowed or banked. Also,
many people do not fully understand the use year.

I have no problems with signing a contract and sending money, but I need to
make sure that the points I rent can be used when I want to use them.

I am a legacy owner and have converted to points for a trip to Maui. This
would probably be the only time I will convert since I have been able to exchange without too many problems. I am retired, so vacations are flexible.

My question is: what is the best way to rent points to make sure that they
are able to be used when I need them? I really don't want to purchase
points and then have extra. Then I would need to buy more or convert again, and I really don't want to have to continue to convert.

Thanks,

If you have already looked at Greg T's website for points rental (http://gtibbitts.tripod.com/) you will notice that many of the notices refer to use year. I recently completed a Points rental transaction and it worked flawlessly. A few emails between me and the renter to clarify details and one phone call to a VOA to complete the transaction.

You will need to ask the person renting the points to specify if the points are 2012 or 2013 usage year and for confirmation that they have not been banked or borrowed or are bonus points received for signing up.

Good luck. I found it to be a very positive experience and I hope the same will be true for you.

Thanks so much for the link and the suggestions. I look forward to just
being able to rent the points I need rather than having to do a full conversion
or having to purchase additional points.
