Renting out Destination Points - what options for a non-US resident

Hi all,

I just wanted to get some advice from your collective brain power. I'm looking to rent out some 2025 Destination Points, and have been going to the 2 known sites:
- VacationPointExchange.com
Since August this year, verified seller status is required, but they cannot provide this to non-US residents. I did use the site last year without trouble, but with the new rule, I can't list my points anymore.

- Ownertrades.com
I've been trying to renew my membership, but the Paypal button gets me to an error page from Paypal. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
Are there any alternatives to these 2 sites?

Thanks in advance for any information you can share,

GenevaFlyer

I don't think Owner Trades is being maintained anymore. @Clark sold that a few years ago to Seth Nock and I haven't seen any changes to the site. So I am not sure if it is possible to list there anymore.

You can list them in the TUG Marketplace for free if you have an active TUG membership. You can also make reservations with the points and then list those reservations for rent through sites like go-koala, Redweek or certain buy/sell/rent Facebook Groups. You may even be able to list your points for rent through the same Facebook Groups.

It's a shame if VacationPointExchange can no longer support non-US members. I've successfully rented points from a non-US owner via that site more than once, and I know there are some great owners there who are not US-based. Or there were.

I think the move to require seller verification is good (too many scammers out there) but there ought to be a way for non-US points owners to participate.

Is there a reason that non-US owners can't rent on VacationPointExchange? I don't see anything about it in the FAQ. I know when scammer listings were rampant that @StevenTing had to block non US IP addresses. That was before the move to all sellers having to get verified. Is it that you can no longer access the site because of the IP address block? Perhaps that can be reconsidered now that all sellers need verification?

Thanks, I'll take a look.

Per Steven Ting, it's a question of not having a remedy in case of a bad transaction when the seller is outside the US. I can understand the thought, but it is a shame indeed. I have previously sold through VacationPointsExchange, but it's time to explore the alternatives listed by dioxide45.

I'll take a look at whether PayPal would provide sufficient protection even if the receiver of the money is outside the US.

Cheers,
