Hello!
What is the going rate right now for renting out club points? I’ve seen multiple sites at various different increments. I have two lagunamar weeks which each bring in 4950 points. My HOa cost is about .35 cents… is there a maximum I can rent out?
Thanks !

You can ask whatever you want to ask, but at VPE, I would say the going rate is in is the 67-75 cents a point range.

Not sure that folks advertising on VPE make the distinction, but I would advertise 2024 points at a higher rate than 2023 because the MFs associated with 2024 points (to be determined 10-12 months from now) will also likely be higher.

Are there other exchanges? We are also considering renting out our points to cover MF in the future.

Be prepared for negotiation because these are transfers and MVC owners know what you pay in MF. There are rules which limit commercial use of timeshares for profit and you don't want to get shut down by MVC similar to other TS companies. This is a transfer and different than renting out Disney where they can rent to non-owners.

I"m trying to understand why anyone would rent out points for these low prices when they could just get a points reservation and rent it for twice as much. And, especially if one is planning to rent out points for years ahead.

I also suggest someone just agree to a recurring rental at under $.50 per point and relieve the owner of this annual burden. I'm not advocating the $.50 per point but a number under the annual maintenance fee of $.68 would be a bargain.

Isn't it sad that individuals paid large amounts up front for points and can't even rent the resulting points for enough to pay the maintenance fees. Hey MVC, this is not a tribute to the value of points.

If you transfer points in does that count toward Elite?

@DRH90277 That is an interesting idea. There are TS owners who are aging out and cant travel but not ready or able to sell and do not want the hassle and risk of renting out their unit who may be open to transferring their points to cover their MF. I would be open to a multi year arrangement to pay for someones MF.

No. Only owned Trust Points or electable Enrolled Points from owned enrolled weeks count toward ownership status.

A recurring arrangement to obtain the use of points for a reasonable price may also benefit those who bought a small quantity of points (say 2,000 or less) who are trying to figure out what to do. MVC preys on these folks knowing they must buy more points to achieve any value in use.

My view is that if a party can't buy 5,000 points ($80,000 purchase or a third of that for resale points), they are always better off buying a good resale week (usually less than $10,000).
