Dear Group:

I own a two bedroom villa through MVC at Grande Vista (purchased in 2004). I just did 3 weeks at Marriott Beach Place Towers (I split one unit and had an extra week from another year) and would like to try and spend 4 plus weeks at MBP next again next January. Other TUG Members suggested renting points and indicated that I needed an account through MVC where I could place rented points. In order to establish the account, I was told I had to attend an online 90 minute webinar with MVC. I just completed the webinar (and no, I 'm not going to buy any points) and was advised by the sales person that I can't have an account for points because I chose not to buy points so:

Is this correct? Do I have to buy points to establish an account to bank points (btw, I bought my timeshare as a resale so I can't convert the unit to points); and

If I still want to rent points, I was told I would have to go to the resale market, rent points through an owner and the owner would have to book the reservation for me, using my name.

Does the above make sense? Is renting points from other owner(s) still a viable option for me? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!

There is a webinar on the MVC site where you can watch and after watching, you can enroll your eligible week. The sales person was lying because he/she wanted to make a sale.

Owners who reside in the U.S. whose weeks were purchased by June 20, 2010, will be offered free enrollment in the Marriott Vacation Club Destinations Exchange Program after viewing this entire presentation.

That will allow your 2004 week to be enrolled and provide you with the account where rented points can be transferred to.

Did you never enroll your week when Marriott offered the opportunity for $595 way back in the early 2010s? Enrolling your week will allow you to exchange through II for $0 exchange fees and no annual II membership. Do you pay exchange fees now?
