Hi everyone,

Wondering if anyone has thoughts/experience with finding timeshare rentals for less than one week...

Our family doesn't typically stay in most places for a full week anymore, but shorter rentals are harder to find on places like Tug and RedWeek. Has anyone been able to make a full week rental but leave early, while still paying the full price? Or is this not an option due to resort rules?

Thanks for any insight!

Leaving early is not an issue. I do it all the time. Arriving late is also ok, but in this case it is best to call the resort to let them know you will be late.

Agree. I think it is imperative to call the Resort and let them know when you plan to arrive late or they may give your Unit to someone else. I always tried to call between 10 and 11 am on the day I was scheduled to arrive and have them confirm that they noted in their record my anticipated arrival date and time. It was never a problem...

With points we sure do break up the week - makes the points go farther each year

Our HICV points system allows for 2 nights to 2 months , one reservation starting / stopping any day of the week.
If one rents to others they have 15 guest passes a year. So if you have a lot of points the small reservation is not cost effective because after 15 they charge $200 extra.
Saturday , Sunday (2 nights) use the same points as Sunday thru Friday (5 nights)
So you might want a weekend trip but it costs as much as the weekdays charging by points.
So our system accommodates thrifty owner travelers

Thanks all! I was looking at renting some Marriott units for about 4-5 days this summer, and renting a full week from here/RedWeek is typically still significantly less than paying for the nights outright from Marriott.

My only concern is cancellation policies...most of the ones I see will only give max 50% back, and many no refunds all, which concerns me in COVID times.

You can make a reservation and not show up at all if you want. The week is yours to use for as long or short as you wish.

This is typical of Marriott weeks. Owners are out 100% of their MFs if you cancel, so they have stricter cancellation policies. Wyndham rentals may have more flexible rental policies since they have more flexible reservation policies with their points.
