I own a timeshare in the Orlando area, which we have either used or rented out for the specific week that we own.
A friend asked us if they could rent our timeshare but for a different week later in the year. I honestly don’t know the answer to this can someone please help? Thanks

If this is a fixed week, the answer is no. There may be exceptions in a specific resort, but the week you own is yours to use, rent or deposit (as you have already done). If you have a floating week, then you could reserve the week your friend wants and rent it to them. Again, because it would be your week to do with as you please. You may not deposit your week and trade for another week and then rent it to a friend. That violates the trade policies of RCI and II. Arguably, the chances that RCI would find out are slim, fat and none if this is a private transaction but you need to be aware that it is against the rules. [You may know this and I only mention it because it may seem an option, not to insult your knowledge.]

I was successful in renting a difficult week to get (Wyndham in Annaheim less than two months out) by posting a "rental wanted" ad. The fellow Tugger rented it to me for the cost of the points. Perhaps something like that would work versus renting from the resort or the open market of Red Week or ABNB.

Best,
Judi

Thank you Judi. Having never been put in that situation before, I honestly didn’t know how to respond. Appreciate your clear response.
