I've been approached by a company called american event planners out of los angeles, ca about renting my timeshare. Sounds too good to be true and was wondering if anyone has had any dealings or info on this company.

The fact that they contacted you first is not a good sign.

If they ask you for any fee upfront, run, run, run!

If they make wacky promises that they can rent it out for far above your maintenance fees, that's another sure-fire sign of a scam.

If they mention the words "escrow", "guarantee(d)", or "refundable", I would avoid them like the plague.

What exactly is their sales pitch?

Thanks Lanny

Several of the conditions you mention are part of the deal, sounded too good to be true.

The original contact was for renting, because they were hosting an event at a neighboring resort and i was booked up. hen they sent me papers to be signed and reurned with a copy of my original purchase agreement. On the letter there was mention of a buyer, a percentage for them, escrow and title searches. I been ignoring their phone calls until I did some research now I'll block them out.

Smart move.
For scammers, keeping your story straight is fundamental.
These cretins apparently need a refesher course.

If it sounds too good to be true, guess what? It is.
Once they have your $$, the deal will fall thru, but wait...
Oh, your $$ has been spent, but they have an even better deal...
For only a little more $$.
