Rental Car - West Palm

We are going to West Palm - arrive 4/7 - 4/21. The rental cars seem outrageous - I think because the first week is Easter weekend. Who can we book with that is cheaper then $425 (incl taxes etc)?? We thought maybe we should arrive on Saturday - take a cab to the resort - then take a cab back on Monday AM and pick up the car and return it 4/21 (Saturday). Any thoughts on that?

Anyone know how much a cab would be? We are staying at Palm Beach Resort & Beach Club.

Not sure if this will help but I'd recommend checking rates on Travelocity. They will quote for all major rental car companies. Then check for discounts at this site: http://www.carrentalsavers.com/alamo.html.

Then go to the individual web site for the car rental company and plug in the discount codes and see what looks best. Here is one particularly good one for Budget, but not sure if Easter will be blacked out.

When I went to West Palm last November I found the closest Hertz dealer to airport and booked my car rental. It was a short cab ride and the cabs are very convenient at airport. I saved about $100 and you can return car to airport instead of where you rented. There is some sort of fee directly related to all airport rentals in West Palm.

We ended up getting a great deal online with Thrifty. We decided to actually rent it on Sunday AM instead of Saturday afternoon - that way it was about 1/2 the price - I think the issue was that it will be Easter weekend. So, we will just take a short cab ride (about 9 miles) and check in then go back to the airport on Sunday morning and pick up the car. Thanks for the help.
