We are heading Cabo way in a couple of days and rental car insurance there is quite expensive. I've consulted a couple of my credit card companies and they indicate if I refuse the CDW on the rental agreement my CC will cover damage to the rental car. One of the CC companies will provide additional coverage for $24.95 which includes theft and medical but no one that I'm aware of except the rental car companies offer bodily injury and property damage liability coverage.

Anyone out there got any suggestions on how to maximize my coverages for the least amount of $ outlay. Any other experience sharing would be welcome. I need feedback asap. Thanks,

Hope you get other replies about the car insurance. I use my CC insurance on the BAJA side of MX and that has always been fine. In Cancun you need to pay the added insurance and your CC coverage. I have no idea why.
I am in Cabo right this minute and I am also renting a car in 2 days to drive people to and from the airport on 11/28.
What is the deal with Huskerfan? Are you an x Nebraskan? I live in Lincoln. The game on Friday 11/28 hopefully will be televised everywhere in this area. I have friends staying at Playa Grande and they even get ABC which is actully airing the game. We have run into several Nebraskans this week it is truly amazing. Good Luck with your rental car and look us up at Cabo Villas if you get to Medano Beach.

I can't give you quotes and such but I can tell you make sure you have sufficient coverage in Mexico. You need definatley bodily injury and property damage liability coverage along with legal bail bond......if you are in accident in Mexico and blood is drawn, you go to jail until the case is resolved or unless you have bail bond coverage.

Also should you be in an accident and kill someone, god forbid, you will go to jail until compensation is made in full to surviving family members etc.

If you are not fully covered and cannot pay for what is not covered, you are going to jail also. You can even go to jail while the accident is being resolved as to fault, cost involved etc. That is where the legal/bail bond coverage comes in, so you do not spend days in jail.

Driving in Mexico is no game......make sure you have the utmost coverage....no matter what the cost....good luck!!
