So I wrote up a lengthy review on TUG2, but I just wanted to also post here that it's a real conglomeration of opposites. The resort as a whole is very nice looking, and we've had fun going around it. The overall unit is also reasonably nice, but hampered by a few issues that really kind of take it down. Things that I would have expected a standard housekeeping sweep to find before giving out the unit again.

The dishwasher is just disgusting. It was covered inside with mildew, and my attempt at cleaning it using a detergent pack and running a long, hot and sanitize and heat cycle did nothing. I called maintenance, and they did something while I was gone so it smells a little less and there's less obvious mildew on the door. But it still stinks of mildew if I open the door. I'm kind of afraid to use it, but I also really don't want to do dishes by hand. I guess maybe I'll call them again after work today.

There are no glasses. Just coffee mugs. A first in a timeshare for me.

There are some sort of small ants coming in from the patio, which seems covered in them. They just seem to be around the living room rug, and we've vacuumed them up a couple of times.

The final thing that's a bit weird for me is I think they want us to strip down the bedding on checkout day, and I think set it outside? It flashed on one of the TVs when I was checking in. Usually all I'm asked to do is put all the towels in a bathroom, and run the dishwasher.

As an aside, the front door also didn't latch right when we arrived, but maintenance did fix that. I just wonder how housekeeping would miss the door not latching, or a really bad dishwasher. It kind of feels like they didn't really even do much of a spot check.

I'm guessing they're having a labor shortage just like most everyone else. Probably why MFs are going up so much.

We also had one plug of a wall outlet just stop working in the master bedroom. The icemaker in the fridge barely is working. It just kind of stopped making ice. IDK if I should bother telling anyone - maybe as I check out tomorrow. We also had a couple "scary" bugs in the second bathroom, but I don't think I can complain that much about bugs in summer.

On things that don't rise to the level of me wanting to deal with them fixing it while I am staying in the room, I always leave a note and a written list when I check out. I usually leave it in the room with the tip. Perhaps I should take it to the front desk.

Hey, so I see you may own at Woodstone if your profile is right - how are those units? Are they some that have the 4 BR? I do want to come back to Massanutten with other family, and 2BR would be tight, and Woodstone is also regularly in RCI extra vacations or for exchange. Otherwise I may try and figure out if I can get 2 adjoining Regal Vistas if I need more room next time.

Are you saying there were no drinking glasses, wine glasses or OJ glasses in the unit? Did you call front desk or housekeeping and ask for these missing essential kitchen items?

I own a Woodstone “Luxury” (4BR L/O) unit to trade in RCI Points. I have only stayed in a unit like I own once. I prefer Summit up on the mountain as far as a place to stay (personal preference).

The 4BR 4woodstone units are fine, but not as nice as Regal Vistas. I think you had bad luck in your draw last time.

There are none. I didn't call the front desk simply because I got 2 plastic tumblers for $0.50 each at Target, so used those. Also, with the dishwasher non-functional due to mildew/mold, I couldn't wash dishes easily anyway. I do plan to come back, potentially to Woodstone due to being closer to the pool/hot tub and having 4BR units - if I can find any to get via RCI. If not, I'll see about if I can find on RCI 2 Regal Vista units and try and ask for them attached.

We stayed at Shenandoah on an RCI $299 last minute in August a few years ago. It was a fairly dated unit, but clean and in good working order, all appliances were fine, full dishes (and glasses). We could easily walk to the pools. We picked a check in date that was a freestanding unit (or maybe a duplex) and it was great.

100% of Regal Vistas is 4 bedroom units that lock off. The 4 bedrooms in Woodstone are all lock offs as well. Almost all of the 4 bedrooms for both sections are deposited as 2BR units/sides. Not to say that there are not 4BR units to be found. And they are easier to find on the points side of RCI.

I have booked Massanutten at least 1 week every year for about 7 years. I have stayed in all the Gold Crowns (Regal Vistas, Woodstone, Summit) and the Silver Crown (Mountainside). All of those have been plenty nice for my family (but certainly not a Marriott of Hilton — Regal Vistas is close).

Note: I own in Woodstone (RCI points) and Mountainside Villas.

I have never stayed in any of the divisions below silver crown. Part of me would like to check them all out, but being able to book better units for about the same trading power and costs has disincentivized me from doing so.

We, have never stay at any timeshare resort or a hotel that did not have any glasses, what so ever in the unit.

I hope to have a video up this week sometime from the trip. If I can get the time and gumption to splice it together / edit it.
