I am thinking of requesting Building #91 for an upcoming trip to MGV?
(other choices would be #90, 92)

Does anyone know the refurbishment schedule for these buildings?

Many thanks,
Pat

I went back through some of our recent newsletters, I can find any references to refurbishments to buildings 90, 91, or 92. My guess is that they may have been done back in 2008 or earlier.

You may be better with 96, 97, or 98 as they should have just recently completed refurbishment in the fall of 2011.

Oh well; I guess I may end up with an 'older' unit (if they give me my request.)

My preference is mainly because of the GOLF VIEW(s)--- (so I'm told); but the Gas Grill, and being close to a pool are each a Bonus.

Bldg. 91 has the best grill area and the hot tub and pool are much more private. We stay in #79, but visit our friends almost nightly in 91 hot tub area.
Their unit has new carpets and tv's. it looks as good as any.

So, it sounds like #91 has the better pool area, and gas grill area vs. #79.

That being said, you "...stay in #79"; is that because #91 is older looking than #79?

(although I don't/won't have #79, etc. on my request list, I wonder why you don't stay in #91?---location, etc?)

please reply; many thanks;
Pat

Creatures of habit , I guess. We have the top floor, corner unit, with a view of #4 hole, the fountain, the lighthouse, and the pool. We exit the elevator right at the Copa Loca pool and bar, plus it is very near the tennis court entrance.
That being said, the #91 feels like a closer knit community area, probably because it is a smaller area, surrounded by a few bldgs.

We own at MGV and always request building 91 or 92. We like the small, intimate and usually quieter pool area, proximity to hot tubs, and especially the view of the golf course's 6th hole. I admit that the last couple of years I thought the units were getting a bit on the shabby side. Not horrible, just not as nice as one would expect from Marriott. It's not enough to make me change our choice, but I probably wouldn't choose there if I had company and were trying to impress family or friends. BUT... I have no idea how they compare with other buildings, either.

We usually opt for building 97 when we stay at Grande Vista. It too is close to a smaller pool area and hot tub. These rooms were starting to get in rough shape, but now that they have gone through a refresh, they will be much better.

Dioxide, do those rooms have a nice view of the golf course? It looks like they overlook the 5th hole. We like to watch the golfers from our balcony.

My family just returned from a week at Grande Vista. The place was packed! We requested buildings 82, 83, & 94, but they were full. We were offered a refurbished (2011) 3 bedroom lock off in Building 100. It was not what we were looking for, but it had a nice view of the golf practice facilities and was a short walk to everything (although it seems everything at Grande Vista is just a short walk. Much different than my home resort of Shadow Ridge). The tile in the bathrooms was still old, but the soft goods had been replaced, flat screen tvs in all rooms, stainless appliances and granit countertops.

We did prefer the 3 bedroom lock off configuration to the non-lock off one. Everyone had privacy. We had 3 twenty year olds in the group (neice, nephew, and neice's boyfriend). My niece and I started out in the lockoff suite, but moved to the "guy" bedroom after the first night when it became apparent the 3 of them wanted a place to hang out that also had a DVD player. Everyone was happy.

Cheers!

Ditto----one of the reasons why I am considering #91.
(I think this Building overlooks the 6th hole.)

There is a decent view of the golf course if you are on a high enough floor. There probably better buildings for golf views though.

Can any of you folks that regularly stay at GV advise who we to contact there to request a building.
We are owners in the Marriott system but at other Marriott locations. We used an AC to book into GV this coming Sunday for a week.
I image that because it is not my home resort, that I am way down on the pecking order. Should I just wait till I get there or does anyone have a suggestion.
Thanks,
Mike

Many people call about two weeks before check in.

If I were you, I would call today, or soon; since you check in within a week.

Then, perhaps call the morning of check-in to see if they were able/might be able to fill your request(s).

Oh, and by the way----I am lower on the pecking order than you, but have had some success (not always) with my previous requests.

We just got here yesterday.
We were initially assigned building 91 on the first floor. Unfortunately the room must have been closed up because there was a very heavy musty odor.
We immediately went back to the desk and was assigned to 3fl of building 98.

91 was a nice location (pool, golf views and reasonably close to everything), but again...room unacceptable.
98 is totally refurbished, new paint, furniture, cabinets, appliances and is lovely. We are slightly isolated but not too too bad.
We just took a walk to get the lay of the land (now that it is light out) and found that I like building 98 area much better. I can walk to the Faldo practice range, the pool here is gorgeous with a nice cabaret, but if you want the USA today...you have a fairly long walk to the office or the gate (that's where they are delivered now).
All in all, we’re impressed with the improvements made since we were here last (3 years ago). If I find anything else of importance, I'll post it.

Building 98

JUst wondering if tehre is a hot tub near 98 also as I too will be at Grande Vista in a couple of weeks. Also - Is the walk from 98 to the main building (where the marketplace is) any longer than forom building 88, both are at the end but teh map is deceiveing. I was in 88 last year and found it was pretty good...

Thanks

We were there in November and stayed in bldg 96. We do not own there and were there on a getaway, but they did recognize us as Marriott owners. We didn't make any request in advance.

Bldg 96 is in a pretty good location - close to the entrance, not too far walk to the registration area and recently refurbished and very well done. It is very close to a smaller pool and hot tub (which we were able to enjoy in mid-November) and we had a lovely time. We initially requested a building closer to the main pool, but we had reservations for two 2BR's and we wanted them to be next to each other. In the end, we were all quite pleased - the guests ranged in age from 2 - 80.

Yes, there is a nice hot tub here and the building is a comparable distance from the main entrance (as bldg 88), pizza hut, rec room and fitness center.
BTW, the fitness center is twice as big as it was 3 years ago. Very nice!!! So is the Pizza Hut.
Today was 82 degrees. "It's all good"!:D

Well there goes our nice quiet pool near our favorite building, number 97 :( .

Kidding aside. The Clubside village has been our favorite section at Grande Vista. We have requested building 97 many times and usually get a high floor. The pool is quiet and not busy, at least for now. Given the recent renovations of that phase it will probably continue to be our favorite section. The units were starting to look a little tired.
