I have purchased this 10 years RCI membership through
RCI SA when I purchased the Durban Sands Timeshare. I
am no longer owning this timeshare. I now use RCI
Points account exclusively. I understand that I can get refund for unused years. I called RCI Week and they don't seem to know what to do. How can I get a refund for the balance of the unused year.

You'll need to contact RCI SA to do this. Here is their email address:

thespecialists@rci.co.za

Or you could contact Charl Bruwer who issued a refund on my remaining years a while back:

cbruwer@rci.co.za

Oops. I didn't realize this was the Ask RCI forum. My apologies..

RCI talks in Circles

We have a similar issue. My RCI weeks account was set up when we bought our South African weeks and was good through 12/2009. When we bought a points account last month we were told we had to set up and pay for a separate points account that would also cover our weeks. We did this and when we asked for a credit for our weeks account, RCI said no money ever changed hands for our weeks account and they refused to give me any value for the 4 remaining years on our weeks account. Their reasoning is irrational as they are telling me the 4 years of weeks have no value but they cost $89 per year to subscribe. Makes no sense to me. So it looks like I am another sucker that RCI screws again. Madge- can you explain RCI's thinking. I was willing to pay them the difference between the weeks and points memberships for the balance of the 4 years but they told me they would issue me no credit.

myip,

Trish has given you great advice. RCI South Africa houses the records for these special renewal offers in South Africa. That is the best place to go to request your refund.

ira_g,

I respond to the oldest posts first, so bumping a thread up actually moves it to the end of the line. Sorry for the delay.

Did you purchase your renewal in South Africa? If so, then the instructions Trish provided will serve you best. If you purchased your renewal in North America, please send an e-mail to feedback@rci.com with TUG in the subject line. The Communications Team will be able to advise you about how your refund would be prorated.

Madge,

RCI SA has give me a credit of 1990 Rand and did a inter company transfer. I called RCI USA. They don't have this info and they just fill in a form to request refund. (I don't think this is a correct process) Where did the money go to and how do I get refund? I also send a email to feedback@rci.com. Noone answer my question. Here is my Acknowledgement (KMM688520I10L0KM) reference #.

Maria,

It appears that the Communications Team is still waiting for a response from our Accounting staff and will follow up as soon as they can verify the refund. I've asked them to send an urgent request to Accounting to get this wrapped up for you. Sorry to hear it's still outstanding.

Upset with RCI US...

Who do you call to ask for status? I tried rci week account and they say it is points problem. When I called RCI points account and they say it is a week problem. I feel like i am a ping pong.

-- How long does it take to get the refund? Why is it taking so long?

-- 3/6/06 -- Still not receving refund... RCI US asked me to contact RCI SA for the refund again.... They said they didn't receive any intercompany transfer. RCI SA said they did.... Why am I in the middle...? Where is the MONEY????

Maria,

I am very sorry you've been caught in the middle. The most recent correspondence we've received from South Africa indicated that they would contact you to try to track down the refund. We have also asked to whom the transfer was directed so that we can get in touch with the person or team here. I will keep an eye on this for you myself.

Madge,

I tried sending email to RCI SA since early March. They never respond back on my refund. Do you have any luck of getting my refund? I am not sure who I can contact anymore. RCI US, Tina is handling the case and she has not reply back to me.

Maria,

Did South Africa quote you an amount for your refund, in Rand or USD?

If so, please send a new message to feedback@rci.com including the amount you were quoted and enter "Attn: Madge" in the subject line. We'll get it worked out one way or another. You've been more than patient with a process that clearly isn't working well.

Myip- keep writing to feedback at rci with tug in the subject and they will handle it. write to them everyday if necessary. I did and they finally credited my credit card after about 4 months from the start. I believe this was with Madge's help.:wall: :wall:
