Redweek is confirming weeks that are exchanges from Interval International? The $190 fee is in this ad:

Could be that Redweek is stupid and has that in all of the ads. This just occurred to me as I posted it. Still, this one is 6/7-6/14. I was looking for a studio for a friend for Memorial week, in case someone is renting cheaply.

Looks like it's on all their ads at least for that resort. Redweek has a lot of stupid false warnings for many resorts, like housekeeping fees for all Vistana resorts that have not been charged for a couple of years now. I tried contacting them to remove those, but it's impossible. In addition to being increasingly greedy, they are also stupid.

Except that this is not a stupid warning. Disney resorts do charge a $190 fee for interval exchanges to cover things like wifi, transportation etc. It's probably disclosed on the Interval confirmation that Redweek received from the "owner".

I am not surprised they list these - it's not really their problem if someone is renting Interval exchanges. If Interval cracks down, it's up to the account owner to make the renter whole. Redweek gets their feed from both sides regardless.

Redweek used to not verify these and it is possible that one just slipped through. The same reason they won't take Wyndham rentals that are in the owner priority periods. They don't want to have an unhappy renter that has their rental cancelled or shows up to no reservation. Not a good customer service experience even though it is the owner's responsibility to ensure they are only renting stuff they are allowed to rent.

It's possible... but what also changed is that they used to get $10 for verifying a listing for the "owner" and nothing from the renter. Now they get ~10% from the owner and $99 from the renter, so $300-$500 for each one of these. It pays off to let things "slip through"...

im honestly not sure that a renter would somehow be denied check in even if it were discovered. not like the front desk is somehow going to turn them away with a valid reservation and or guest certificate.

though I am sure II would take action on the account owner whos renting out exchanges!

Yeah, my reference to that wasn't really related to this specific reservation or even II confirmation, but rather to Wyndham where some owners were having reservations cancelled.

The problem with this particular ad is that it is a 2 bedroom, it is a date I have seen via exchange, and the price is not really on par with what most people charge per point. It works out to quite a bit less than I would accept. But I doubt it's an II exchange because RW makes sure those don't get verified, but then again, if a RW employee has a friend who will slip those through?

The $190 shouldn't be listed, if they are following II's rules and not allowing the rentals of exchanges.

I agree that RW adds a lot of bogus information to their ads about fees that are not applicable.
