I will be closing shortly on a TS in Williamsburg Virginia (Kings Creek) and would like to check for myself if the deed was recorded when the seller says it is. I have searched high and low on-line for the registers office and can't seem to find. Can anyone help me out?

Williamsburg, VA 23185
Office Telephone # 757.564.2242
Fax # 757.564.2329

Good Luck !!!!

Thanks - maybe County means something different in VA than MA - but my purchase and sales states York County. This is Jame City County. Is there a difference? Could my p/s possibly be wrong?

Actually, Williamsburg is in 2 counties. If your TS is located in York County, you would need to record your deed there.

King's Creek Plantation is in York County, Virginia. Here's the web address you are looking for:

http://www.yorkcounty.gov/circuitcourt/landrecords.htm

However, unlike many counties in many states, York County does not offer free access online to their records. It will cost you $150 to register for a quarter of the year so you can look up your transaction.

You can try calling the Clerk of Court's office at the phone number listed, however. They may be willing to help you.

Mike,
Williamsburg is a city and not part of either James City or York County. Each of the three has its own court house and government. All are in the same general area and touch each other. York county is mainly on the York River and north of Interstate 64 and James City County is south and along the James. Williamsburg is between the two, but doesn't stretch as far east or west and is centered around the college and Colonial Williamsburg.
