We will be staying at the Hilton Kohola suites in Waikoloa. Does anyone have experience with Luaus there or in Kona? We really don't want one of those mass production shows with 800 people. Something smaller and more intimate. Thanks!

The Mauna Lani Auberge offers a lu'au on Fridays - we often go to the Canoehouse for dinner and can surmise that the lu'au offerings will not disappoint. The auberge is committed to preserving the land and offering guests an authentic experience.

Thanks. That's on the more expensive end of most Luaus. How big is their seating? Is it near the water?

The lu'au grounds are situated at the ancient fishponds close to the ocean but not directly on the sand. I believe that the area can seat 150.

I would compare this lu'au to the Old Lahina Luau on Maui for authenticity.

Thanks. We may make this our 30th Anniversary Dinner!

We celebrated our 30th at Manta in Mauna Kea. This year we are celebrating 31 at CanoeHouse at Mauna Lani.

If you want to see the site beforehand, park at the public lot off of Pauoa, across from the fitness center and walk down to the resort fish ponds.

I will try and do a bit more research about the luau and get back to you. A dear friend just took a position as entertainment director at Mauna Lani and I will ask his opinion. We both have roots in the theatre.
