We will be staying at our timeshare in Maui for two weeks in June; however, we will be arriving one day before our timeshare reservation. I would appreciate any recommendations of places to stay or not to stay for the one night. I don't need anything upscale but I do want a decent, clean place for the one night. I thought I had seen a thread a while back on this topic but I couldn't find it.

Do you want to stay someplace close to your timeshare, or in a different area of the island?

I would go for a 4 Star or resort hotel on Priceline. In this economy, you should be able to get a very nice room for $100 - $150, maybe less, if tourism continues to slide.

Here is a list of current winning bids, and the Maui Priceline hotel list (at the top of the board.) Note that you choose the quality level (Stars), area (zone), and the price you bid, but you may get any of the hotels in the Zone/Stars group. If you go with 3.5 Star, 4 Star, or Resort level (Stars) it's hard to go wrong.

I think this is the thread you were looking for.

Hi Helen,

I don't know where your TS is, but if it's in West Maui I think that Kaanapali Shores is a nice middle-of-the-road hotel. There are tons of mid-level places in Kihei, but I'm not as familiar with South Maui.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Luanne, any place on the western part of Maui would do.

Single Night on Maui

Two weeks ago we had a delightful overnight stay at Upcountry Bed and Breakfast up the mountain (3000 ft elevation) in Kula. It is maybe 30 miles from Lahaina Area, but my lady and I loved the place.

I just wanted to say thank for this recommendation. I decided I want to stay there for our last night on Maui. It'll be a nice break from the fast busy pace of Ka'anapali and it'll be fun to explore Kula and Upcountry on our last two days. Since I won't be needing to go to to West Maui for anything, seems so fun. And I can cool off before I head home. lol.

You might want to check w/your timeshare and see if your unit might be available a day early so you wouldn't have to move.

If that doesn't work I too would use either Priceline or Hotwire.
