I've been intrigued by the number of Fairfield items that have received no bids. It appears to be across all properties, low and high MF's. I suspect its a combination of the really bad economy, and Wyndham's owner unfriendly tactics.

Interesting stuff....

You're probably right...although such purchases being down across the board...I don't know that Wyndham and Fairfield exceptional in how poor they are doing.

There was a Wyndham 154,000 point week at Harbor Lights in San Diego that went for only $404 on e-bay this last week.

I also saw the following ebay sales.

1/19/09 Bonnet Creek - 154,000 pts $1097
1/28/09 Smokey Mtns - 126,000 pts $257
1/28/09 Kingsgate - 462,000 pts $302!!!

In 1999, so 10 years ago now, I bought 126,000 for $1 plus $35 closing costs. Someone just wanted to get rid of it, and I happened to stumble across the listing first. Of course this was before ebay and other abundant internet listings. I have not seen a price that low in ages, especially across the board. I think that with current trends my deal may get beat.

So much for the penny/point model

Not long ago, as in a year ago, I was doing the happy dance when I won points for just under a penny a point. And to get them for .6 cents per point was a steal.

Ahhhh......the good old days......

Will it get to the point where we will have to pay someone to take it off our hands if we want to sell? Amazing. It is such a great system (despite recent owner unfriendly decisions) and nice resorts. Certainly some deeds with high MFs (fixed deeds in low season - high MFs per point) are probably already getting nearly impossible to sell. Great deals are abundant now for anyone in the market.

I saw a 105k Alexandria contract sell for $500 plus closing. That seems really high based on other contracts that have sold for much less and much higher points.

Does it boil down to being in the right place at the right time? Obviously, not all contracts are selling for $1.

I think you are absolutely right, many timeshare owners will have to start paying to get rid of what they own.

I am really eye balling an auction for my very first purchase, but they are starting it too high in my book. I dont mind paying the closing costs, but I wanna get the winning bid sub 50 bucks or so. Most of the ones that are up for sale now, are the ones that are the higher MFs, Branson, Virginia, etc. They do seem to be selling for more than the others, havent seen one of them go for a buck yet.

I really dont get the appeal of Branson though, especially at the cost of those MF's. That place just brings me no enjoyment whatsoever, maybe when I get older :D

About 5 years ago I happily purchased mine for a little less then 2.5 cents a point. A little over a year ago I asked "are Fairfield points in free fall" and people argued with me. Now sadly I guess I was right. But I didn't want to be.

Bonnet Creek..

If I weren't already 434K points into the system, I'd be all over this. I still can't believe Bonnet Creek $9000 and a "Buy it now" for 654K points on Ebay... Is Bonnet Creek getting ready for a pump in M/F or something? I'm staying there the first week in April for my kids' spring break, it'll be our 2nd time at BC :whoopie: and NO, I don't own there.... With all the Disney/Universal and Sea World specials for military, we're going again in October. My kids' get another nice break AND few crowds...

Any word out there if Wyndham is gonna go T-U? We have our deeds for the real property soooo, what happens?

The resort in Alexandra has some of the highest demand of any TS resort in the system. It is the only TS resort in the DC area (as well as the other wyndham resort under construction). Therefore HUGH demand.
