So now Welk and HRC are all now "Hyatt Vacation Club", with a new green abstract logo, even though the administrative systems remain separate.
At the same time, Hyatt Coconut Plantation has been renamed "Hyatt Cove." I learned this from the HRC Facebook group, since Hyatt did not have the courtesy to notify me as a longtime owner at Coconut Plantation. Plus there is no mention on the HRC website. So far I do not see any significant change for us legacy deeded owners.

Surprising no notice from the elected Board(s) as well? Do we know if this is firmed up or just in discussion stages?

Probably just a marketing brand name change. Vistana did the same thing with Sheraton Broadway Plantation, changing it to Sheraton Broadway Resort. "Plantation" is a bad word these days. It doesn't necessarily change the legal name of the resort. They probably won't change that in underlying documents. They just market it with the new name now.

Edit: They are still using "Hyatt Residence Club Bonita Springs, Coconut Plantation" on Hyatt.com.

It was called Hyatt Vacation Club back when I was working there. I suspect they pulled out all the old trademarks because they already own that. This is just to get Lawrence Welk's name off the front door.

If that's the case why would that name be applied to HRC resorts as well?

I just logged on to transfer my CUP balance into EEE -- a whopping 10 points! (A new record for me. I strive for efficiency, after all. ;-) )

It's still HRC on the website. And frankly, I don't care what they call it. It started out as "Vacation Club." Then Vacation Clubs got a bad name and they switched to Residence Club. And now they want to switch back. So what?

As long as they don't monkey with the program, they can call it "Goober's Weird-Ass Timeshare Scamaroonie System" for all I care. That wouldn't be a bad idea, as it would scare most people away -- leaving more for the rest of us.

Just had a chat with a sales booker from Hyatt. He was very excited about the “merger of Welk and Hyatt”. He said that they would be switching the website over to a new site on the 13th and announcing the newly merged HVC system on the 14th.

I am currently debating whether I should go to the sales presentation to ask how they intend to fix the once good system they have broken with the stupid HPP and now whatever the merged system is. Or, because we all know it will be a complete waste of time, skip it for breakfast.

Either way, sounds like changes will happen next week.

I always called it Coconut Point, like the Mall and the Hyatt hotel.
