Rebooking from Club to Open Season

Is this a glitch in the great Evolution reservation software?

I wanted to change a Club reservation from a one-bedroom to a two-bedroom in Vegas. Evolution gave me the option of rebooking either with points or cash. I chose cash and I waited and waited for the last screen to finish and give me a new reservation confirmation. I did it twice with moving it over to Trump. Also tried it once with Paradise. Still jammed up on the last page and never finished. I finally tried again with additional points instead and it quickly gave me a confirmation.

Is this a problem with Evolution? It shouldn't really allow you to change to cash and that's why it hangs up and doesn't finish? Or the software is just that bad and has a problem finishing up a reservation change?

You can't change to cash.

You need to either cancel or rebook your current reservation to a new one with higher point requirements than your current one.

Open Season will be a separate reservation.

Changes aren't allowed under 30 days without penalty, unless changed to a new reservation with higher points requirements.

Which is what I was trying to do....rebook with reservation needing a higher point amount (but pay cash...Revolution was telling me I could do the change with cash instead of points..wanted my credit card info, etc. and then stalled as I got to the final page..) So even though it gives you that option, the change has to be with points, not cash?

I would think so, as open season isn't the same as club booking. I never tried what you tried, only club booking under 30 days to another club booking.

It may seem the system let you think you can do that (if it works, great, if it doesn't, oh well, that's what I would expect), but I definitely would just be pleasantly surprised if it lets you do what you want.

The rule on converting to cash -- "Reservations booked with Points and later canceled cannot be rebooked into the same resort for the same time period using Open Season rental rates." -- suggests that a cancellation and a change in dates or resort is needed.

I'd try this:
(1) Change the booking to more than 30 days out. --So you won't suffer a penalty.
(2) Next session, cancel.
(3) Third session, book open season... original dates/place might now work.
.

I was originally booked into Paradise and I was attempting to rebook into Trump...so I WAS booking into a different resort. Maybe it was because I didn't cancel first, but wasn't going to do that since I'd lose my points from the original booking. And I expect I'd have had to pay an additional $52 or whatever the current booking fee is... Oh well, at least I was able to rebook into a larger unit..

Did you try to rebook or just book the reservation?

I read your posts and you use the terms change the reservation and rebook. If you were trying to do either of these instead of just BOOKING the new reservation that could be the confusion. A cash reservation has to be a new booking not a change or a rebooking.

Did you try to just book the reservation using cash in open season?

Alternatively:
(1) Make the OS booking first;
(2) Move the point-stay to MT 30 days out to avoid a penalty.
(3) Then cancel the point-stay... or make it one you'd want.

I had a reservation this year that I changed three times, no reason to cancel unless you get near year end and need to rescue the points. One of the things I like about HGVC, changeable res, never need to cancel just keep parking the points 30 + days out.
