Reason for extraordinary Grand Waikikean point values

The points required to rent a 1 Br in the new Grand Waikikean tower are an extraordinary 50-270% higher than for a 1 Br in the adjacent existing Lagoon tower (and that is excluding the GW penthouse values). What is the reason for this? As far as I can see, the furniture is spiffier in the GW, but basic unit size is not much different, and the GW tower is actually further from the beach than the Lagoon tower. Just a question of "because they can", or am I missing something?

Really good point. I asked almost the exact same question.

The saleperson responded "you wouldn't pay the same price for a car today as you would ten years ago." To which my husband responded "your current prices far exceed the rate of inflation."

My understanding is that they are suppose to be very upscale furnishing, even more upscale from the current Lagoon and Kalia furnishings.

Kings Land on the Big Island has the same point structure. There have been a couple of discussions on what is special about Kings Land, perhaps you can go back and review.

I agree with you that to me Kalia and Lagoon are nice enough already. But some want that extra something.

I own Wyndham and their Presidential Level Units are over the top in terms of finishes and decor and furniture. They basically are really decked out designer units. You pay more points for them. So instead of having just units that way HGVC seems to have gone the resort route, by adding an upscale resort at the locations with many options already.

Thanks for the pointer, will take a look. As for the more upscale furnishings, while this may be true to some extent, they are not that much better than the two existing properties (IMHO), and just can't see how this can justify their remarkable surcharges for the new Grand Waikikean tower.
