We have 1800 RCUP points for this year. Our usage week is middle of May.

What are our opinions for the RCUP points? I understand that we only can book within 60-day of check-in. Could we deposit with interval?

Your experts' advice are highly appreciated. Thank you.

You can't deposit with interval, but you can make a booking with interval if there is something you want. If you'd prefer to use your points in interval then you can make a booking as far out as possible and add ePlus. This will allow you to retrade it up to three times. You will need to do that before the RCUP points turn into LCUP points. I personally have never had any issue using LCUP points, but realize I am probably an outlier.

So I can extend the usage from middle of May plus 1 year with Interval if there is anything available to trade before the points turn into LUCP?

Hopefully this will make things clear.
- You cannot move your RCUP points into EEE if they are tied to mid May this year because you are past the "4 months before" deadline
- You CAN make a reservation in Interval with RCUP points - but if you have any EEE points they will be used FIRST.
- You CANNOT make a reservation in Interval with LCUP points.

So if you have EEE points you will have to combine any EEE then RCUP points to spend them in Interval. As said, you can add EPlus and basically hold the points with any reservation in Interval then change it later (an effective strategy from TravelHacker). Or you can let them go to LCUP and spend them in Hyatt. Or some combination of both.

Good luck!

GTLINE. Thank you for the detailed explanation. We never try Interval with Hyatt before. How far away we can reserve with Interval with Hyatt point? If we add eplus, do we get another year of extension? for example, if I can book something in spring 2023, with eplus 3-trade, my possible re-trade pushes usage out to spring 2024?

Also, if I use 1350 point for 2 bedroom in the initial trade, the first re-trade only costs 870 for a 2 bedroom because of the season, do I have 680 left with interval for later use; or the 1350 is gone after the initial trade even re-trade costs less point. Thank you.

I have not used EPlus (yet) so I am not sure of the details. Hopefully somebody can elaborate who has experience.

The issue here is using your points in II while they are still RCUP. And you need to understand that Hyatt holds points (even EEE points) until they are spent in Interval. So once you make a reservation in Interval the points go to Interval and they are essentially "paid". And they CANNOT come back. So if you spend some points on a 2br (1300) or 2br (870) or studio (430) and you add Eplus you can change those reservations later - and you have essentially bought yourself time to use the points (but confined yourself to use those points only in Interval). I think the point is that you may not be able to reserve what you want - but you can reserve something and change it later. Each reservation is now bound by the Interval/EPlus rules. Whatever leftover points you do not spend in Interval will go to LCUP soon and be bound by Hyatt rules.

So you need somebody to let you know about the subtlety of changing Eplus reservations (across seasons or unit sizes). I would think you will be able to pull whatever you see - but you may not be able to upsize if somehow they track you used points originally (I do believe I have read about this distinction). And the rules may get more lax as you get closer to checkin (i.e. inside a time period).

There is a separate Interval desk at Hyatt. Interval will often refer you back to Hyatt because some rules are unique to Hyatt. I would call Hyatt and enter the option for Interval and ask them your questions about changing EPlus reservations. I would suggest you do that in addition to doing research here.
