I am confused... We have 154k points with Grand Desert... I called RCI and Wyndham because I cannot click the link in my Wyndham account for RCI exchanges. I keep getting a system error.

So according to owner services the reason why I cannot access the system through the web-site is that they have my Wyndham RCI account set up but I need to call owner services to make my deposits to RCI and call RCI to make my reservations? I am not able to search anything on-line through the Wyndham RCI portal because I am not a plus partner? Is that really the case? Do I have to make a call for every search to use my Wyndham points?? :annoyed:

No, I don't think that's correct -- and my experience is that if you're talking to the regular reservations line, they will try to help but they have no clue what they're talking about when it comes to RCI.

There are actually two account setups required. One for your Wyndham online access and a separate one for RCI. I had a similar problem to yours and found that the Wyndham account was fine for Wyndham, but until the separate RCI account (separate account number and password) was established, I couldn't access anything at RCI.

In addition, I'm still not clear on this, but I don't think you can access non-exchange RCI benefits like Extra Vacations and Last Calls via the Wyndham portal. I think the only thing you can get there is RCI Weeks exchanges.

I got told so many different stories, I ended up with Wyndham Quality Assurance. Once I got to them, the solution happened pretty quickly.

I purchased Wyndham points resale in the last year, and by the time my RCI account was set up it was after the portal was in place - I have access to both the Wyndham/RCI portal and the direct RCI site for things such as Extra Vacations, etc. If I remember correctly, here is the approximate sequence of events I experienced:

- I got a welcome letter from Wyndham in December 2010 and set up my online internal Wyndham account. Included with that initial letter was a form (with few instructions or explanations) to set up my RCI account, which I filled out and returned to Wyndham.

- In late January, I called Wyndham to check on the status of my RCI account. They hadn't started the process at all, so apparently the form I filled out and sent in was useless. They started the process to get me an RCI account at that point.

- For the next couple of months I called every couple weeks or so to check on the progress. As best I could tell from the better-informed Wyndham folks I spoke with, first they had to work with RCI to have my account created, and this was delayed and all RCI's fault and yadda yadda yadda. Then after the RCI account was created Wyndham would have to work some magic to get me portal access.

- I got a welcome packet from RCI in late March. Based on this, I set up my direct login to RCI. Then I started calling Wyndham again inquiring about portal access. I can't remember how long it took, but I think it was only a week or two.

As it turns out, I was facing a deed correction issue with my last Wyndham contract (that went around and around like five times), so although the RCI delay was frustrating, I wasn't going to be ready to make a deposit in RCI until the contract was recognized by Wyndham which I think ended up being in July.

Thanks for the info!! I did get a separate welcome package from RCI with our new account info. It was the same account number as Wyndham owner services gave us. I was able to set up the account separatly on RCI.com. I am stuck at the portal access not connecting.

The RCI paperwork they sent us after we closed was sent back to them back in August and I just got the RCI info. I guess I'll give them a little more time to get it setup. Not in much of a rush since I don't have any points to deposit and I have a separate RCI points account. Just annoying Wyndham takes so long for everything and can't seem to get things straight. I thought it was weird what the rep was telling me today for the reason that it is not connecting.

If it still doesn't work... I'll try quality assurance. Thanks!
