Hi. I am BRAND new here. I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place for this.

I deposited 2 weeks into RCI almost 2 years ago. I used the chart than available on the wyndham site and deposited my weeks as 1 bedroom RED HIGH season. Unfortunately during that time I was unable to book a vacation to use those weeks and I am now trying to use them to book DVC.

Every post I see talks about an Exchange amt or TPU and I don't know if either is associated with my weeks!

When I log onto the RCI website it does not allow me to search against those weeks. :crash: I need to call RCI to do it for me. I have recently set up the ongoing search (last friday). I am wondering if you think I have any chance of getting DVC for October? I am open to any resort. Prefer 1 bedroom. Check in October 12, 13, or 14. And then a second week for check-in Oct 19, 20, 21.

Any chance of getting DVC with my OLD weeks???

Thank you!

Unlikely you will get one with an old deposit. They did not have very high TPUs. I think a 1 bedroom Red under the old grid was about 21 TPUs. Disney is almost always higher than that. I would think that if you do get a match it won't be until fairly close to check-in, when TPU cost will sometimes drop off. The good news is that if you deposit points through the new portal, they will be able to pull anything that is available. So you CAN get Disney, you just probably can't get it with one of your old deposits.

Your second week is available at Bonnet Creek in a 1BR. I would take that one. Your first week is already gone at Bonnet. You can set up an ongoing search and hope that someone cancels, and might get lucky. You can probably also get both weeks at Vistana, which isn't a bad choice now that the resort-wide refurbishment is complete.

Thanks for your help!

I'm just so mad at RCI. The day I set up the search I paid to extend those weeks. They should have told me that they won't match for DVC!

I REALLY want to stay on Disney property. We will not have a rental car and plan to do some drinking with the Food & wine festival so was counting on Disney Transportation.

Unfortunately my Wyndham timeshare is ODD years only so I won't have more points in time to deposit for this coming October.

Wyndham Bonnet Creek does have a shuttle to the disney parks.

Yes it does but unless it has changed from 2009 when we stayed there for 3 days it was very inconvenient. We ended up taking a taxi most of the time!

Probably at this point your best bet is to try to rent from a DVC owner.

It's more than just unlikely. You should consider it to be impossible with any of the generics. The 1BR Red generic simply will not have the trade power to obtain a DVC resort of any size.

I'm guessing this is what you mean by generic? FSP HIGH 1 BR DEPOSIT

Probably at this point your best bet is to try to rent from a DVC owner.

Thanks. I'm not set on staying DVC just Disney. It is just my hubby and I and we are eating all our meals out so no need for a kitchen. I was trying to do the exchange so as to not lose those weeks while still having the convenience of being on Disney Property.

The part I am upset with is paying the fee to extend the weeks and then not being told that its impossible for them to match with Disney. I would have just let them go and saved the money spent as its pretty unlikely we will be going anywhere else this year.

If I were you, I would strongly consider (a) using these deposits to secure the best options available to you, (b) renting a car for most of your transportation needs, and (c) taking a cab on days when you both plan to have a second or third glass of something at Epcot. It will be much less expensive and more comfortable to do that than to get a hotel room from the Mouse.

I'm not sure what you mean by not DVC just Disney. Are you talking about Disney hotels? They don't trade through RCI, just the DVC properties. The only non-DVC Disney resort I'm aware of is Bonnet Creek.

It wouldn't hurt to call RCI guest services (or whatever it's called) to complain about paying to extend the weeks and put on a search for Disney when it's not really possible to get DVC with your deposits. Not saying they would give you a refund but it might be worth a try.

If you want, you could place your 2013 points into the Points Credit pool with Wyndham, then make a Wyndham reservation, cancel it, and deposit the cancelled points with RCI to book DVC. If you do all that in one day, you will only be charged one reservation transaction. I didn't check to see if DVC is available those dates, but you should be able to check directly through the portal from the Wyndham page.
