Was going to book a week at Wyndham in Hawaii for 231,000points. Thought about it and called RCI. Usually I have zero luck with them but they did search first. They came back with the SAME resort for 105,000 points plus exchange fee. Saved me 126,000 points! :cheer: That ended up a no-brainer for me. (actually I got this for my sons honeymoon). This was for the same unit size and dates. Just thougt I'd share.

Whahoo!!! Next time use a smaller deposit like 70K or 28K and do a search first...who knows you may get lucky again.

Do you deposit first THEN do a search? Or do you do a search first then deposit i.e. 28,000.

If you know inventory is there (a sighting has been reported) you can try a variety of search-first levels.

I've found that if you get a good Guide at the Wyndham RCI line, they can tell you what size deposit it would take to get the unit, and that will save you some time. Something like, "Well, if I called Wyndham for a 70K, do you think I would still get it?"

The Wyndham RCI guides can search at a generic points level without you actually having a deposit, but only a few of the better ones are willing to do it.

The op did search first.

From time to time, depends on when the bulk deposit is made, sometimes you do need more than 70k. If you willing to gamble on it, maybe the requirement will be lower in a few days, I will not depend on that if the date is fixed. Especially since it is usually few units there.

The price difference is around $150 (105k and 70k), even using 28k, it is around $350. Change an Hawaii airline ticket (especially with 2 people or more) will cost more than that.

But next time, after the match is found, as them if it can be matched use lower point value. I believe a lot of VC will do that anyway.
