I'm a current RCI points owner and i want to try RCI weeks.

couple questions.

1. is the inventory between points and weeks different? will weeks have some different properties available?

2. what is a good ammount of TPU's? for example i now own at VVP. and get something like 90 k points a year. those 90k typically get me in (almost) everywhere. so what would some consider the TPU equivalent of that?

The maximum TPU is 60 - it's completely different than the RCI point system.

Average is a lot lower - maybe 20-30.

Week 51 on the years that include Christmas and week 52 are probably going to actually get you more bank with weeks than your 92,000 points. Summer weeks and Spring weeks will probably be about the same with a VV unit. I like the $139 weeks exchange fee when staying inside Vacation Village properties. I got 92 points between the two lock off sides for my week 51 at Parkway. Next year I will only get 43 (22 and 21 for each side) which still isn't horrible. I like having both. It is almost always cheaper to use weeks for any VV or affiliate (grandview, massanutten, etc). With 44 points I could still get at least 3 reservations- 1 prime and 2 shoulder season with a $139 exchange fee each. When I stay in higher demand (especially non points resorts) in 1 br or studio units, RCI points works out better. I just got back from a wonderful stay that would have been about 33 tpu's in a 2 br oceanfront outer banks unit but it took 38,000 rci points.

Which one? We have 2 weeks at Beachwoods (22&39) and I've been wanting to stay somewhere that's ocean front.

I almost don't want to say because it was so nice, not fancy but nice.

High Dunes-only 9 units. We got a week 24 in 2013 and a week 27 for this year. I have had a search going for about a year for 2016 and one in points that I keep adding the 2017 dates as they become available for search. According to the very friendly HOA member who has been a week 27 owner since the place opened 29 years ago, more than a 1/3 of the summer weeks owners are original owners or children of original owners. He said he brought his children and then his grand children and now it is just he and his wife but he has no intention of giving up his week. Owners often list in the HOA newsletter and the good weeks for sale get taken by other owners before getting listed anywhere else. It is about 3 blocks south from Outer Banks Beach club but where as they may have 20 on the same beachfront footprint it was a lot less congested. Only 6 of the 9 have ocean views- floors 2 and 3. No elevator and the first floor is up one set of stairs. We stayed on the first floor in 2013 but had the 3rd floor this time.
