Hi.

I have a relative who was just at a timeshare presentation in the Berkshires for "Vacation Village."

They offered her 2 weeks every other year with a bonus week every year for $600/even year maintenance fees for $9000.

It was an RCI Gold Crown resort during a white (thanksgiving) week. They would want to do more trading than Berkshire vacations.

I'm not familiar with RCI and was trying to convince her that Hilton was a better system. Does anyone have any direct comparison points of HGVC to RCI?

THANKS!

DEFINATELY do Hilton, as it offers and Internal Hilton trading system, AND access to all RCI resorts - However, with RCI Points, you only get direct access to the resort you own, and to all the RCI resorts inventory. Both programs are flexible, so if I were them, I'd choose Hilton. You get more choices for your money with Hilton, and most of the people that post here are very happy with their product.

First it isn't RCI, but a small Berkshires TS called "Vacation Village." They are just affiliated with RCI as are 5,000 other TS in the US and around the world. If your friends are interested in RCI points, they must buy a TS which is associate with RCI points. This can be done very cheaply (~$100-$200) So the only reason for them to buy "Vacation Village." is if they really want to go there during the season they are buying. BUT if they buy resale they can likely buy it for <$1,000. But you said they aren't that interested in vacationing in the bershires, so IMHO, forget "Vacation Village."

Hilton/HGVC is a TS sytem with more than 20 resorts around the world which you use your HGVC pts to reserve weeks at. If you want to go thru RCI, you use your pts to make RCI trades too. BUT unlike many RCI point resorts which you can pickup for a song. Hilton resorts are holding their value. I would plan on spending at least $5000 to buy into HGVC.
