I just wanted to double check and possibly clear up a misunderstanding here about the expiration of the 6 month coupon after vacation protection is used.

I cancelled an exchange last year and received the coupon, but I was told by the RCI rep if I used the coupon to enter an ongoing search, my coupon wouldn't expire as long as I didn't cancel the search that used it. I know a few people here on tug have echoed the same thing.

Well, I noticed my coupon balance was gone and called RCI today and they said my coupon expired because it had been 6 months (though my search remains)! :annoyed: :wall: I would have handled that credit totally different had I known it would expire!

Is this for sure true? Think I have any recourse for the misinformation from the RCI rep? :annoyed:

Not likely. THey might give you another credit as a one time exception. Good to know though. I don't plan on cancelling three confirmed exchanges I have until right before they are set to start for exactly this reason. I'm not sure I'll be able to use three exchange fees in the next year or so.
