I have recently purchased on ebay a 154,000 point Wyndham contract that has RCI as its worldwide external exchange. I'm considering purchasing a second contract on ebay. If I do, should I buy a Wyndham contract that has Interval International (II) as its external exchange? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to this approach? Is one exchange considered better than the other? I'm thinking that if I have access to both, I might have a wider variety of resorts to choose from. Is that true?

I have two more exchage questions: First, I understand that I deposite Wyndham points into the exchanges in return for weeks. When I make my Wyndham point deposite into RCI or II, do I immediately have to indicate how I want the points used? For example, do I have to deposite 154,000 points specifically for a two bedroom redweek? Or can I deposite these points and make specific decisions on how to use them in the future?

Second, how difficult is it to book a two bedroom unit in San Francisco through RCI or II? How far in advance would I have to make such a reservation?

Thanks!

I'm sure that someone with more experience will pipe in but, I beleive that your first purchase determine which exchange companie you are with. Therefore If you purchase a second account that is with II, you would still remain with RCI.

This statement is correct. My first purchase was II and all subsequent purchases go to II (even RCI resorts).

I recently got a 1 bedroom exchange into SF through Wyndham/II. I have never been able to get a 2 bedroom through II. Sometime next year Wyndham will be opening a resort near Union Square in SF. This would be your best option, rather than exchanges. These will be suites and 1 bedroom, but the Presidential Units might be 2 bedroom.

You can get your 2nd contract to II however, you will need to make sure it is titled to different ownership than your first one, and you will have to work on top of the transaction process to make sure they give you a new membership number instead of just put it to your old account.

You don't have to make decision when you deposit, I usually deposit unuseed points at end of set up the trip to RCI my affiated company. And let them stay for a while until I find out where I want to go. It is best if you know where you want to go, and put in request as soon as possible. The way the match the on-going request, in theory, the day you put into the request will be one of the factor that included in the trading power etc when they do a match.

In RCI, if you want to get 2 BD, you don't have to deposit 2 BD. However, for SF, you will not get it, I have tried that before, and when I talk to Wyndham/RCI VC, he indicates that it is very hot resort, even if I deposit 154k, I may not get.

And this year, someone has post on sighting RCI SF deposit in summer 2009, and I have tried to use Wyndham point to match for 3 days in a row and can not get it, so at this moment, I will assume it is ungettable using Wyndham point through RCI.
