RCI trade into Star Island Questions

We have been Wyndham owners (via resale) for a little over a year now. When I took ownership, I had 154K points that I deposited with RCI. I was able to get a 1 bedroom week at Parc Soleil by Hilton Grand Vacations Club and a 2 bedroom week at Star Island.

I have a few questions about Star Island. I've read that some rooms are not managed by Wyndham. RCI assures me that their inventory is Wyndham. Any way of knowing for sure? The reviews I've read are that the Wyndham rooms are superior.

We have a room number in building 23. Is there a way to determine if the room is a lock off or a dedicated 2 bedroom or has been recently renovated? According to the Wyndham web site, the two bedroom only accommodates 6 while the lock off accommodates 8. Our RCI confirmation says the unit accommodates 8. I tried to call the resort and I just get an answering service. I did not leave a message. Figure I'm low on the priority list for a call back.

Anyone have any recommendations regarding Star Island? We usually stay onsite at Walt Disney World. We are using this 2 week visit to the Kissimmee area to max out our annual passes we purchased earlier this year.

Thanks for any advice you can provide...

We were in building 23 during the first week of December. The views were of the back of a tennis court. You are furthest from the pool in this building. We were in 2342B. A is the lock off side and gives you the extra rooms. However, although clean and granite countertops, it was still fairly dated in my opinion and the facilities were not that great.

the Wyn website shows the 2 bedroom lockoff as an "8 sleeper" - 1 K, 2 Q, and sleep sofa, and the straight 2 bedroom as a "6 sleeper" - but it has 1 k, 2 d, and sleep sofa - I count 8 !

Looks like they count a double as a "single".

With an "8/6" rci letter I assume you have the lock off - but call to be sure.

The way Wyndham puts it, the resort is "Not Managed By Wyndham". In other words, Wyndham puts owners in the suites, while Star Island manages everything else. They (Wyndham) says that, even though the resort isn't maintained by Wyndham, the resort must meet/exceed their requirements.

Thanks everyone! I greatly appreciate your comments! Grandma is coming on this trip with us and a lock off would give her some quiet time. We have two boys and exuberance runs high while we are on vacation!

This makes complete sense! Many online reviews talk of two owners. Your comments make it all come together.

As a side note, if you look at the box underneath my name, you'll see where I own: Star Island. I've never stayed there, just purchased it this past Fall.
