RCI resort question

I was on the RCI website looking for reviews of Scottish resorts. Much to my surprise, when searching using 'Scotland', I saw that there were 46 resorts listed, a number far higher than I had imagined. When I clicked on several of them, they were just free-standing cottages, not resorts at all. Is this something new with RCI? I can't imagine that they are available for exchange. Anyone have any info?

I see what you mean, the resort ids start with B for the most part. There are 17 purely numeric resort ids, that means they added 29 resorts. You would think that if they more than doubled the number of resorts in any one area they would make a big deal about it. Unless its just RCI being RCI or if there really won't be a lot of exchange availability. Unfortunately, unless airfare comes back down to earth, none of these new possibilities can entice me to go there whether they are available or not.

The cost of airfare and car rental to get to the TS, for a party of 2 or more exceeds the savings of using an exchanged TS

My question is not about getting there, but why RCI is adding single cottages into inventory vs. whole resorts. Are there other worldwide locations where cottages are in the inventory? Does anyone have thoughts on why RCI is doing this?

I agree that the cost to get there, unless using ff miles, might be a deterrent, but some folks prefer timeshares for other reasons than savings. Location, the ability have meals 'at home', the opportunity to have a large party in one place all are reasons to do some form of self-catering. And, quite often, rentals are more expensive than using a timeshare.

Just a guess ....

The "RCI Group" has always include a number of European divisions, one of which is "English Country Cottages" (covers Scotland). These are cottages that are up for rent. Perhaps, Wyndham has decided to make some of them available for exchange.
