RCI reservation cancelled. Confused about certificate in account.

I had an exchange booked with HGV points via RCI for Jamaican on the Gulf in Treasure Island in December. I just received notification that my reservation is cancelled due to the resort being closed.

RCI emailed this: At this time, we have cancelled your vacation and placed a coupon on your account in the amount of the exchange fee paid. The coupon is good until 01/31/2025 in which you just need to confirm a vacation by the expiration date, your travel dates may be outside of that window. We have returned your points to your account.

I don't see a coupon in my account and don't know where they put the points. It seems kind of time constrained that I need to book an exchange by the end of January even though the reservation can be after that.

Has anyone had anything like this before?

Used the chat function on RCI. She said the cert was there but the points weren't. The points were returned to my HGV account and they are 2024 points. I can make a 2025 reservation in RCI without having to save them but I imagine if I have to cancel, what would happen to them?

And finally, used the chat with HGV. He said I could make a 2025 reservation in RCI with 2024 points if they weren’t lost. I mentioned I had already paid to save 2024 points and would feel more secure if these were saved. He said he would save them for no fee since I already paid once. Thank you!

I think they should. I would make a case once on chat. If that didn't work, I would call the phone line, and ask for a supervisor if you are told no. They cancelled your reservation. If it was the other way around, they wouldn't.
